Little update, had a half day today so popped up to my pals garage where the car is being welded etc to fit my new top mounts I got last week..

Fitted them to the coilovers..

Cut the lip off the strut and fitted them, just needs a lick of paint to stop them rusting but will do that when my pals finished and its back home.

And got some pics of what my mates done so far..
The spare wheel well..

Strengthening plate he's added underneath..

He's done a good job of that, he's flattened down the raised bits in the boot to blend in with the plate he's added, should look almost factory once he's finished and been painted!!
A couple of bad holes I made when removing spot welds from oe seat rails, decided it was best to just cut a section out and weld a new one in lol

And filled in the other spot weld holes

They just need flattening back, just the seat bars left to do.
Am now thinking about getting him to play with my cage, welding the whole lot in and adding a few bits

yeh do like the airfeed alot mate, might have to make my own over xmas maybe
my xe is running standardish power with a powercap, not sure if 2.5" or 2.25" bore is the way to go though? (heard the best bore size depends on power output?) £350 doesnt sound bad, i take it thats from the manifold backwards an built from scratch?

If your sticking ith a standard ish xe then I'd say 2.25 mate. And yeh that's from the manifold back made from scratch.

Little bit more done on the motor, all the rails are now welded in, have to say my mates done an awesome job!! Really am chuffed to bits. I went over on Monday to his garage and did a few bits myself, got all the rear belt and bench bracket spot welds drilled out and zinc primered the plate where the spare wheel well once lived.
The rails started like this..

He then drilled some larger holes where the mounts are gonna go..

Got some solid tube and tapped some threads

And all welded together

Seat porn

Obviously mounted the driver seat to my position and got as low as possible without cutting the floor out which is low enough tbh, will prob lower the steering column slightly to get a perfect seat position, mega happy with it all though, seats are mega comfy and look awesome!
The rear arches now iv removed the brackets etc

A bit more weight saved

Which is just as well as have today ordered 11metres of cds steel tube, my mates gonna add to my existing cage, welding the whole lot in, putting x diagonals on the door bars, a x on the roof, hooking up to the front struts and linking the main hoop via the exhaust tunnel, once that's done hes gonna paint the inside of the car and the new cage, really looking forward to seeing it all done, the cds comes on Tuesday and he will crack straight on with it.
Dash update
Made this plate to cover the old vent as iv removed the matrix so is no point in having it, it's gonna hold hazard switch, fan switch a recall buttons for tacho

Got a dash top stack shift light mounted to the clock shroud

And the unflocked finished article, with gauge pod mounted on the side all ready for tomoz

Will update next week when cage work commences
