Some very good articles on investopedia.
I'm learning a lot from reading things on there. Especially the articles on analysis.
Good shout on that james!

I want to start trading with real money but I first want to get some experience using £20k of pretend money
Is it best to steer clear of any computer related companies?

I've not used demo mode, didn't realise you can use £20k, quite cool
Computer related, depends I guess. AMD were fucked last week, however game maker EA, have just released nfl 13 and are about to release the demo for fifa13 and game at the end of the month. So they will rise quite a bit.

One other question - some of the things I could trade are greyed out (but they are on the LSE) - then a few minutes later I could buy/short sell. Why is this?

Guessing something drastic was happening, so click buy ona price and it would change. Just like you're placing a bet and that happens, asks you whether you want to accept odds. That's me guessing anyway, seems logical enough

The thing I seem to be making fairly consistent profit on is oil. Is anyone else finding this?
In other news, I seem to have fucked up by buying shares in Tesco this morning

Buy Apple, all the fan boys will lap up the new iPhone whether it's good or not. It's a win-win.

Not cheap though near £45 for 1 share

You've got to buy a fair bit to make a slight profit though.
Assuming can buy at 680 when market opens, and rises to 685 (highest ever) you only make £2.49 per £43 share.
I'd have to buy £426.29 worth to make 25.36. Good I suppose, as it will happen, but could make more money else where imo.

Surely that's the advantage of CFDs? You are leveraged so you don't pay the full price?
Or is that £45 for 1 CFD?

Must be because of fear that Nokia's new phone would outsell the iPhone

Deposited 100 today and had a massive shit day. Down 18 with apple share closing 4 quid down.
Rumours are people expecting the shares to break $700 per share.
Couldn't seem to pick anything that would go up today. Need to start setting small stop losses so it doesn't spiral.
