Yup, they 'built' during the boom and then it all went tits up with the 'crash'; similar to what happen over in China with their ghost towns etc.
The used town is Sesena (it looks like it anyway), remember reading about it in some ghost town article, which is just outside Madrid. And i believe the airport they used isn't too far away either.

When watching it I thought they blew the whole ghost town thing way out of proportion, surely can't be that bad over there can it??

Well since Britain is way overcrowded Immigration etc etc why don't they just go there? Or is it because there is no benefit system to screw the hell out of! Christ the place could have a wall built round it (district 13 style) and house prisoners there
