As mentioned I decided to brave the gearbox change on my driveway with the engine in. Im not sure why, maybe I thought Id enyoy the challenge..........jesus!!!!
Anyway got it all prepped up, wheels off, calipers etc etc
Was time to get the gearbox out finally after disconnecting everything, double check triple check and all that kinda stuff.
It came out fairly well and was set to drain. I realised then how bloody heavy it was and how little clearance there was to do it.
Dont be fooled by the picture of it just fitted, we were swearing and all sorts to get it back on and lined up with just two of us. I think it took a hour of trying just to slot it back on and then the first bolt went it like lightening I assure you!!!
All back together, set up the linkage with a guide I found on migweb which worked a treat, bolted it all back up with all the double and triple checks I seem to do
All the gears selected fine, filled her up with EP 80/90 Castrol Oil and fired her up.
I cant explain how good it felt when I engaged the clutch and all was well
Went for a test drive and WOW!!! What a ifference to the drive its made, feels like a new car....might be my best mod yet!!!!
Future advice........ Dont be scarred to pay a garage!!! haha Or use a crane im sure that would have helped us. Thanks George for your muscles
Pretty happy with the car at moment, I still want a few panels sprayed or even a full respray. Im tempted to pull out the engine over the winter for a clean up. Still want some different wheels and morettes at some point.
Im sure there will be plenty more to come...for now I love smoking the 600 motorbikes

Got the same email haha.
Problem is the bodykit! Wouldn't want that any more. Could easily end up spending way to much on it. Sounds like it needs a rebuild also.

We used a crane when doing same job. Was over a full size kerb mind. Fair play for doing without, good dedication! Certainly easier and quicker with cane lol, took about an hour to fit after other was removed

Not sure since the evo 5 chips, hybrid turbo and high flow injectors were done. Hoping 290+ bhp prior to all that on standard boost was 231bhp

Quality build!! Enjoyed having a read through from the start. It's great to see projects built from scratch.
Engine bay looks wicked!
Keep up the good work

Hello all
Not a massive update by any means. Good news is the cars back from the garage and is running sweetly again. Turned out there was a wire in the loom which had degraded causing the lack of spark to the old beast.
Any way happy its sorted and back home. Its going to be SORN from October so getting a few more days use before the winter months.
Plans over the winter are
1) Solve digi dash speedo issue
2) Refresh offside engine mount (just because im picky)
3) Change rear 3 way water hose with red silicone one (ordered)
4) Powder coat some parts, anti roll bar and what ever else I decide along route
5) Morettes
6) Thinking about speedlines or maybe some other wheels
7) Minor interior changes, handles etc for tidying it up more than anything else
Possible Other Bits that keep cropping up in my head
1) Strengthening kit welded in
2) Partial or full respray (undecided as its pretty tidy everywhere)

Speed lines 100%!! Detest slabs. Sorry! Would look the part.
Looks bloody clean Mark; I want this when you're done with it
Tom: it was in Merseyside I think. Guy wants crazy money for it as it's probably done about 150k smokes and is rusty.

Was it the same grey one that was being broken on eBay not so long ago? Guy called Craig selling it?
A bloke called Colin had it for ages if he still does it'll be well looked after but if it's in Craig's ownership which I think it could well be I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole
