I think the thicker breaks make it look more retro/timeless somehow, like how the squareness off the iPhone 5/5S makes it look like a dieter rams camera.

Not a fan of the camera protruding but the rest looks fantastic.
Will be ordering the smaller screen size 32gb black or gold

I'm almost more interested in the watch this year though. Worn my Pebble every day for the past 6 months and love it. Can only imagine what developers could do with Apple's version with a proper screen etc.

I agree, the phone is going to be the side act of the announcement. The fact they have invited loads of fashion people says the watch will be announced which is the main thing being the first new product for years. Also there is only so much you can say about a phone with only a few changes. IOS8 will also probably get more time.
I can see payments being a big push behind the watch. Its one thing to have payment on your phone but you still need to get it out your pocket. Put it on your wrist and it becomes much easier (specially when doing something like carrying kids like I was this morning when paying for the shopping at the till).

It won't be easier to contort your wrist. Nfc has to be almost touching, that's a terrible use for a watch.

Yup. I can almost see the iPhone getting the Macbook treatment. They'll talk a bit about the incremental upgrades and then get on to talk about iOS8 and the watch.

Surely the watch just has to come within a few centimetres of it? Doesn't seem like a problem.

How is holding your watch up to it any worse than holding your phone up to it (NFC wise). Rule of thumb with NFC is 2-6cm which I am pretty sure you could get within by putting your phone up to the reader

I still don't believe all the NFC stuff either, probably going to have egg on my face here but have they not taken the piss out of NFC at every opportunity during previous keynotes? They'll be doing wireless charging next

They have not taken the piss they have just said that its not the right time to have it.
They don't want to just put it in the phone and go "It has NFC" and that be that like all the phones which have had very limited use cases.
They want to make a whole business around it and make it worth while. Now the banks can see that NFC has a future, more and more have been slowly moving to it so are much more likely to sign up to a deal with Apple. This means they can release a whole new revenue stream around it rather than just a capability of the phone.

Wouldn't be surprised if apple tried to get into finance in the near future. A credit card accout which is linked to iTunes and your phone/watch.
Get to the till, scan your watch contactlessly and it goes on your credit card with them

This is where they will make the real money, as soon as they can become the marketplace much like Amazon, skimming a small % off transactions for doing didly squat, their profits will go through the roof.

Went on to Fonebank yesterday and "sold" my phone for £180 knowing that they will be inundated with iPhone 5's and the price will bottom out. Got 14days to send it in.
Hope I can get a replacement as close to that as possible

NFC stands for Nobody Fucking Cares, at the moment.
I hope to see the day everyone can swipe their phone/smartwatch and pay for stuff wherever you are though.

I like the idea of NFC, but its not a purchase decider. I have a credit or debit card with it on, not used it yet because I keep forgetting I have it

£320 for my Iphone 5S 32gb unlocked. Guessing the 6 equivalent is going to be £600+.
Will do what Jambo's done but its unlikely ill be able to justify the extra £££!
