Whats a spanner?
Long tool, usually metal construction, with a hexagonal head used to lever nuts and bolts into place.

You cant knock Jap cars at all!
It depends what you want really! Ive had:
A corsa 2.1 16 valve on throttle bodies (210+bhp), well quick! The engine was great but the car handled like a dog and wasnt very well screwed together!
A BMW 3 Series (4.4 V8), Really well built, top interior, nearly 300bhp, looked great and was semi quick (the 4.4 V8 never really worked too well and had to come out after a short period) Thing is you fall into the BMW driver category, which is made up mainly of tw@ts! Oh and the car is that quiet and safe it bores the shite out of you!
And my current chariot is a 00' Nissan 200sx turbo. Interior is as stated "shocking" but its got air con, nice leather seats and plenty of room for gauges and boost computers etc! This is without doubt the best car Ive had! Ive only done a few small mods and already Im well past 250bhp! The car is fast and it handles well and thats the only reason I bought it! Just ordered today some 700cc injectors, a fuel computer, a 1.8mm metal head gasket, HKS manifold, turbo elbow, actuator and a roller bearing turbo. A mate of mine with the same spec car made 358bhp on SCA's rollers and just shy of 400bhp on Well Lanes! There aint no car apart from Japs you can do that with Im afraid!

Great thread this! For what it's worth, I love Hondas, but the real performance enthusiast's pick of the bunch is the Teggie Type R. The original and the best - a kind of Civic Type R without added poofiness
Even better, the arrival of the new Integra means that 2nd hand prices of the original will start falling quite quick

OK matey! Good to see you on-line. Car is reshelled and running sweetly. Full weld-in cage and stripped out. I'm posting some pics later this afternoon. I'm going to need a ride in that turbo car of yours some day... !!

Yeah definitely matey! You'll have to take me out in that mental thing of yours too! What power you running now by the way?
Should have all my bits on by the end of next week. Took a few days off work to do it all! Just gonna run it to RC then and get it mapped! Rear wheel drive is top fun!
Look forward to seeing them pics!

Power is 214bhp @ 8450rpm; 146ft/lb torque at 6100rpm. I'm going to be experimenting with some longer air horns soon, which should see me with a little more torque. Desperately needs a close ratio box though. Only 2nd 3rd and 4th really useable in the power band. Let us know how you get on with that mapping...

Yeah will do matey! Anything over 350 and I am gonna be very happy! The guy with the same spec car has got a map I can use but all cars are slightly different so I really want my own doing!
That thing of yours sounds mental now. What sort of figures do you think your looking at now? Are there any boxes that would suffice or is it a custom (expensive) jobby?

I really need a Quaife 5-speed close ratio box - about £1200; ouch! 0-60 I guess is in the mid 5s cos I now have plate diff and have shed over 60kgs of weight since recording a 6.04 last year at Corsa Saxo day. Up to around 110, it really is very, very quick!
