I read that Arsenal have a clause that if Fabregas joins another English club he has to cut off his left foot.

As much as i really want to see United have a fair few humbling seasons, i kind of want this transfer to go through, purely to see Ben's reaction

Moyes has started backtracking on Cesc now.
"I've never at any time said that we would get him [Fabregas]. We've just made offers that have been rejected."

I wouldn't actually cry. I'd be gutted tho. I love Cesc. I've met him twice and spoken to him quite a lot both times.

Is he back tracking though? I've only read reports saying we have made offers. Any manager coming out saying they are getting someone before anything is agreed would be a fool.

True. But it doesn't come across as confident.
Let me have my straws FFS Marc

He should be saying that he's feeling confident he'll get him. He's not at Everton on a budget now, we have the money to make a deal like this happen so no reason not to be confident about it

Arsenal fans must be so pissed about Higuain
Still dunno what we will do striker wise. Torres, Ba, Lukaku isn't enough.

Indicative of this window Higuian going to Napoli, English clubs are still spending money but the top players that are/were available are going elsewhere.
Celtic should be signing Boerigter from Ajax today and hopefully Finbogasson from Herenveen this week with any luck

Think Higuain is more of a 1 off, think thw issue is PSG/Monaco hoovering up what would ahve been targets of the likes of Real, Chelsea and City before (ie Cavani, Falcao etc.) forcing the rest to pick from a smaller pile

Yip, Napoli are only splashing the cash this window because of the stupidity of PSG with Cavani.
Still, the main strikers available this window have all went to France or Italy! Hopefully Spurs sign Soldado to buck the trend.

But as you say, this is the knock on impact of their stupidity... Napoli have been able to sign Reina, Albiol, Callejon and Higuain mostly with the funds received from Cavani, god knows what Atletico will do with the Falcao money and Porto cleaely have the Martinez/Moutinho funds burning a hole in their pocket

I was reading the other night Porto have pulled in 100 million from sales and brought in 14 players for less than half of that.
Atletico pleaded poverty and got Villa for a song

Atletico and Porto could teach us a thing or 2, every time they lose a top player they re-invest in another top talent and flog him for twice as much a few years later > repeat

Porto pull in absolute fortunes. You would think someone would pinch their scouting staff or just copy their model of raping the South American markets and punting them on for ten times what they bought them for.

I'm slightly worried that moyes has come out to say the squad he has is enough to win the league. To me that has 'we're signing no one' all over it

Fergie said that one year and we ended up signing no one of any significance and as a result we didn't win the league. Think it was the last time Chelsea won the league. You only have to look at City last year to see if you don't make decent signings you're not going to be able to retain the title. City have gone out and look to have got it right this time.
