sounds like possible silicone contamination in the air, can be many things, cleaning products, hair gel, deoderants
maybe something along those lines played a part in the paint reaction, although saying that you said the front half came out ok?

Would say its just a bit of grease left on it. Degreaser can sometimes leave bits there unless you soak it in a really strong degreaser. Depends if using solvent or water based degreaser.
One of those things. Personally probably would of bollocked a heavy coat of lacquer on it. Baked it for a hour. Light key and then stopper in and big bits and then a dust coat the base on and re lacquer.
That must of been a ball ache to mask and not what I would want to do twice.

I've had one pretty much identical for a while dan but it broke a few months ago and it's been doing my head in using a bloody sissor jack .
Ardenbluedan it will be staying for a while .
Steve ! Yes the front , all of the roof and boot floor was fine !! Literally just the parts were the C pillars would cover and the rear door cards would cover , same on both sides . Little but worse on the passanger side though .
I'm not sure what sort of degreaser was used Graeme but I know it was super clean before we started spraying ! Stupid thing is I thought it could be the quick detailer that I use to clean the inside . Wich is FinishKare #425 , but I went on there site and they state that its "body shop safe" . So I don't know lol !! And yeah the masking takes a while .

. It will stay . You know what its like though when insurance becomes more affordable it opens up alot more desirable cars etc . I think it would take a big push for me to actually sell up . But i dont think it will be for a while

Not having much luck with this thing at the moment . Just hit a puddle and ripped the passanger arch clean off !! Went back and found it in the hedge . 2 off the top clips are fucked . Might be able to bodge something together so it goes back on .

Didn't look to bad paint wise , just the the top clip was ripped right open and the next one down was sheered right off . Might end up getting a pair of new arches as the other ones hanging off aswell .

Right so Ive had wednesday and today off ! So i cracked on with the machine polishing .
Started yesterday morning with the normal wash routine , aswell as IronX and Clay !
Ive gone over the whole car with Menzerna Intensive polish on a polishing pad and refined it with Menzerna Final Finish . Cant be happier with the results considering its my first go with a machine polisher .
Its not 100% , theres still a few small marks in the paint but ive got the paint 95% swirl free ! Still need to wax it and do a few other bits but ill get that done tomorow !
Few pics :
No swirls on the boot
Been slacking with photos lately but ill get some decent snaps on the weekend once ive finished detailing .
