From a Spurs fan point of view, the whole Bale thing has been completely blown out of the water by the sale of Steven Caulker.

I'm astonished, as are all Spurs fans I know, one of the most ridiculous transfers ever, can't understand the players decision either unless he's been told he's not wanted.

One year ago, Levy & AVB were almost willing to drive Michael Dawson to QPR to get rid of him, now we're going to start the season with him as our only fit centre back.

In terms of poor business, of course.

Getting good money for a player who wants to go due to a once in a life time opportunity is one thing

Selling an English, homegrown, potential captain, to a promoted club is just stupid. Especially, after persisting with him through youth teams, loaning him out through the leagues etc. There's no logic in this one.

The caulker transfer is definitely a weird one, as you said after they'd done everything the sensible way, loaning him out etc, he looked good last year too. Very strange

Iv not checked these stats so don't go mental at me if they are wrong but Walcott scored one less goal and got ten more assists than bale last season. 85m?

But obviously because Bale scored some from distance he's worth £85m.

Tbh i'd rather have the 10 more assists and CL football than long range goals at the death and no CL football.

So supposedly Spurs had a Romanian guy lined up to replace Caulker but their chairman, who's in jail, stopped the move.

Paulinho (£17m) & Soldado (£26m)

Be interesting to see which deals work out better
