The rest of the groupset arrived today - it's a full Ultegra setup which I'll be bolting on and setting up tonight. Think I'll get most of it done as I've got some tape for the bars so I'll have a little shakedown on it too, with my DMR pedals as I don't have my SPD shoes yet

Bit of a random question which I'm not sure if you'll be able to answer with any accuracy but give it a guess.
If I can be annoyed in the morning (either this or the bus) how long would it take someone unfit, who hasn't been on a bike for ages, to cycle 6 miles on road, on a cheap mountain bike?
half an hour? an hour?

Ultegra, very nice! Did you go 2x10? If you don't mind me asking how much has it set you back all in?

Yup - 2x10 with a compact crankset. I hadn't added it all up until now and it was quite expensive, quite a bit north of £1.5k The retail bike is £1300 though and that's 105 equipped with pretty heavy wheels. My one tipped the scales at 8.9kg this evening

Very nice, not such a bad price tbf. I built my 29er and the budget started at £1000, but it ended up north of £1600

My budget was £1500 for it, I was going to go for a 105 groupset to start with, but then I saw the Ultegra was about £170 more so I thought it would be money well spent to get the better kit

I'm going to have a crack at a PB on Sunday - something over 80 miles with a bit of luck

Photo from Whinlatter forest tonight. Really nice night for a ride out. Didn't break a toe or fall down the mountain like last time I was there.
