Do you ever get anything done by anyone that isn't from the internet
To be fair he works at Engine Dynamics and is known for being able to actually time these engines properly unlike some of the garages which charge a fortune.
Don't be absurd any normal decent garage can "time these engines" properly.
Its not rocket science, this is where this internet myth bullshit comes from, where people are hiring internet forum "specialists" to do basic normal jobs.
I'm sure Alex W is fantastic at his job, but it literally can be taken anywhere local that you know is a decent outfit and trust.

I know of two 182's that had belts done by non-specialists, one was DIY and the other was at a backstreet garage. Both ran like absolute dogs afterwards, one was taken to RS Tuning and was Dyno'd at about 140bhp and the other one I test drove with a mind to buy it, and it was flat as a fart. Apparently, it was later sold to somebody else, belts done at a specialist and it was spot on again.
I agree with your principal though, but I've actually had a couple of experiences in which the internet was actually right

Matches perfect. Its like night and day its probably navy blue in real life.
That's pretty good for a Silver car.. I've never seen a partial re-paint on a silver car that has been a decent match
Its hard to match when you pay £50 for someone to order a £5 pot of paint off the internet. Take it to a proper painter who matches the paint off something else plastic and it should be a good enough match to not be noticed by a stranger on a corsa forum.
No point paying a premium though when your employer controls what damage gets done at your work and your too lazy to cycle or walk to work.

Its not easy but not hard.
They have floating pulleys. Unless you use geniune renault tools they are always out slightly.
I did the megane a couple of times no issues with the timings when checked

Cost me much more than £50.
Same place that had various gtr's outside, so I think my Corsa will be ok
Sorry for not wanting to walk 9 miles everyday to get to and from work, anywhere between 4am -2am. I'm sorry you're getting frustrated by the fact your opinion means nothing to me.
I'm also sorry for your hair colour and beige chinos.

Gtr's are expensive to run, not surprised they are scrimping on paintwork. Should have took it to 3cm he seems to be doing a better job at home.
No need to be sorry about hair colour, light brown is very common.
Im genuinly sorry you have bad eyesight though. Thinking light brown is ginger, or that your paintwork is a good match could have been avoided if only you were able to see properly. Driving a bus for 12hours a day has probably made you lazy and drowsy which would have an affect on your sight. Maybe its time to think about a career change.

I didnt say you didn't need specific tools. They are still basic tools though that any garage should have. Renaults are common mass produced cars, why would garages not kit themselves out to be able to work on them.

Why? Unless youve needed to do a f4r engine you wouldnt have them as shelf items in a garage. Its not like having a size 10 spanner in the tool box

So you're saying that most garages will say they can't do it if you take your Renault Clio to them for a belt change
Give over

My puma gearbox needed a "specialist" tool to remove the 5th gear when I fitted my quaiffe, 2 seconds on ebay and it was sorted.
Same shit with my landrover crank

No Shteven, the issue is its just a fucked up design that many garages tend to get it wrong..

Yeah, good get out... Gtr people skimping because car is a lot to run - yeah ok. Very desperate.
My eyesight is very good, had eye test a year ago when I started my terrible job, that allows me to only work 4 days a week.
Also, not allowed to drive 12 hours a day. Thanks for taking note of my career though. You seem to know lots about me; i think
You've stalked me a lot over the years, much more than 3 full stops.
I love my job, get to interact with many real humans, get lots of days off like today. Appreciate your efforts to try and make me enjoy life better, but I'm happier than I've ever been. Just booked. A holiday with 8 mates for later this year.
Thanks for interest

Quoting engine codes when everyone knows what engine we are on about further proves the point about the bullshit stigma attached to these things, with people hyping on like they own some sort of F1 car, that only a few people in the country are capable of working on.
If a garage can't do it, take it somewhere else, most people should already have a garage they know and trust though.
Im quite sure there will be someone within a 10-15 miles radius of anyone capable of replacing the cambelt on a clio and timing it correctly without having to resort to internet heros

Difference being i never went out my way to find you being angry about life and strangers, its on here for the world to see.
The 3 full stops isnt as weird as you taking time out your so called busy, dull, lazy life to find me on a social networking site. You didnt know my name so must have took quite a bit of searching seeing as my profile is private. Thats extremely weird behavior but you seem the type to do that. Should i expect an envelope with shit in it being delivered to my house or have you not got that far of finding where i live.

Steve you ok?
The car was for sale for 800 quid, I paid 675 as the previous owner has spent 1300 on replacing Everthing on the suspension which is exactly what I wanted as I didn't want to have to shell out on that.
It could have had 45 owners for all I care, it drives better than my 197 did so for 675 I'd say bargain.
Anyway, timing can be done by a back street garage but why bother? Alex knows his shit, he gets the parts from Renault at cost and will take him half the time of a back street garage who won't do it properly and fit motor factor parts.
Did you miss the part where me and my real life neighbour fitted a replacement gearbox and clutch?
You've totally lost your marbles.

Its not about "bullshit stigma" some jobs are genuinely shitty but there are people who have done the job so many times they have it down to a T and can do it more efficiently/reliably than others.

Looks good mate. Can you pm me details of the bodyshop used, if possible? Need both sides and rear bumper done on mine.
