Daily Mail...'Juande Ramos can now use the Keane cash to pursue Russian targets Andrei Arshavin and Roman Pavlyuchenko, plus Sevilla's Diego Capel.'
I thought the fee was only £19m

Spurs have some money anyway don't they? Always seem to just pull it out their ass and spend it.

They have some of the most expensive tickets in the league, so certainly have some decent income.
But with the amount they have been spending, and the fact they've dont get CL money I doubt they could keep up the sort of spending they have been doing and have been linked with.

DOnt get me wrong, in the current marketplace £20m for a proven 10-15 goals a season (max) goalscorer is about right, that doesnt make it a decent fee though! When you think, for example, we paid £7m for Adebayor... who subsequently has scored 40+ goals in the last 2 seasons Un[proven in the EPL maybe

Robbo you have to remember Wenger just did a good deal, it wasn't a normal everyday signing, it was a gamble that paid off.

yep true hence why i added the last little bit. shows the difference though, imo keane in a top 4 starting line up is a gamble too, one that will hopefully go wrong, dirty yid bastid!

Yeah its a bit silly comparing signing Keane for £20m and Adebayor for £7m, as one is proven and one was a total unknown that happened to pay off.
We'd all like to sign a player for every position for £7m who turns out to be worth £20m+ but its just not possible, hence why you have to have the cheaper type of players (Gerrard, Carra, Reina, Agger, etc.) and then add to them some proven quality (Torres, Masch, Keane).

Suddenly £32m for Tevez doesn't look to bad.

£12m (50%) more for someone who scores a similar (less in the PL) amount of goals - yeah seems like a bargin

Don't rate Bentley much tbh. Keane has a track record, what does Bentley have?

Never made it at Arsenal and can't dislodge a 33 year old that plays in a second rate league

The interview on SSN when he said he wanted to leave was the biggest indicator of that. He was standing in some party abroad with a glass of champagne like some billy big time. Please GTF.
