76 pages of nothing but hassle from a 10 year old BMW.

You seem to break things when you try to improve stuff or fix things.

I think you should stick to PCP cars tbh.

18000 miles of fun though. Worth it.

Rather mess around with this then pay to drive a boggo new supermini about on tick.

I don't believe its managed 18k in your ownership. It seems to be off the road most of the time.

it's been off the road 4 days. Hardly terrible. Weekend cars are off the road for longer.

Aye 4 days each time you try to tinker with it or when something breaks.

Im only messing. But it just goes to show, BMW's aren't as reliable as people make out.

It's because it's difficult for him to work on a vehicle when he has one ridiculously small hand. It's not funny to mock his disability.

Thing is, Ben only posts here when it breaks. You just need to add up the time between his posts to see how long its actually been working.

I'd definitely rather drive an old bmw than a new car.
My missus has just bought a 107 brand new and is paying a hell of a lot more for it than I paid for the z4
Wish I knew exactly what my car cost new with all the options. Great value for money.
But Atleast now she has a new car I can drive that and save my fuel for fun

It wouldn't be a project thread if nothing ever needed fixing or changing. It'd be a 'washed my car, took some pics' thread.

I wouldn't say any problems I had are anything abnormal. Everything needs changing at some point.

Bmw expansion tanks are known for cracking and the dead key was because the battery inside is 10 years old. Car battery is just normal preventative maintenance. Thermostat was because the gasket on the oem one had perished, so changed the whole lot.

If the headgasket had gone or an engine mount snapped, that'd be different.

And the side indicators, rear brake light, headlight skooshers, headlights, roof, suspension to name a few. All things you have tried to mess with and made worse before better lol.

BMW are as reliable as most other cars I would say

I have done over 70k in mine and not had any issues what so ever

Did over 75k in my 1 series but I went through a turbo in 30k

As with any car its hit and miss. Every car goes wrong but outside of Warranty the bills can be big for BMW/Audi/Merc so the prices tumble outside of 3 years

Side indicators were an experiment.
Rear brake light cracks on all z4's before they changed the springs that absorb the impact of shutting the boot.
Headlight washer was broken when I bought it.
Headlights are d.i.y'd and fine.
Roof was faded. Roof motor works fine and was changed by the previous owner at a cost of £750.
theres nothing wrong with the suspension so unsure what you're implying there.

Anything else? Best tell all those tvr owners to scrap their cars everytime they break down.

I don't mind tbh.

If I had a new car on finance through my work, i'd get bored of it. I prefer being able to mess around, even if it doesn't always go to plan.

Fuck you all, my headlamp fixed itself again

Almost bought some brand new bilstein shocks and h&r springs the other day for £260. Absolutely gutted I bottled it and now someone else has got a bargain.

No advisories here also

Xenons would be nice, but it's just another thing to go wrong. Usually it's the ballast that fails.
