Sorry, no such thing as 'totally undectable'. If the insurers know where to look, they'll find it. Even taking the programme back to standard won't help. This has been discussed many times on the uk-mkivs.net forum, and really the only use for any 'switchable back to standard' features is so spotty techy at the dealer can't thrash your car when it's in for a service.

Yeh but you cant crack the ECU open and see a chip soldered in there is what I meant by undetectable. To the naked eye and switched back to stock, do you think a Seat Dealer or a Insurance Inspector is gonna notice?!?

The problem with the VAG 1.8T is that the insurers know that, on the later engines like mine, a chip can take it from 150bhp and 155ib/ft straight to 210-220bhp and 230-240ib/ft with no other mods. That's a very big increase, and they want to know about it.
So, all the insurance engineer has to do is plug into the obd socket and check. It really is simple. And yes, they can be bothered if it means getting out of a payment!
A Seat/VW dealer will notice whenever the car goes in for a service and they plug in the vag-com to check for any stored faults. They might not care, unless you are claiming for something under warranty.

even VAG cant detect this modification
all they do is plug a laptop in and mess about with some computer stuff and hey presto 210bhp
my m8s got 204bhp with chip and exhaust so y aint 210bhp possible with chip exhaust and downpipe

Fooooooooooooooooookin love em, was gonna buy a nice silver one myself but just out of my price range and would only offer me 5600 for mine.
If you get one, speak to Jabba Sport, can make some HOOOOOGE increases on power for the 1.8T like we're talking 450bhp + torque for around £2800.
Of course there are smaller gains for less money too.

this is the RSD 210 conversion on the rollers at Jabba.
"Here's yet another sub 190bhp actual RR measurement from my "210" RSD/Oettinger conversion.
Power Station Read 188bhp 3 times on different days, Regal read 189bhp and Jabba's RR yesterday reads 189bhp... LOL"

Still not a bad increase on a std 156bhp for about £500 imo.

Jabba are the people I'll probably use.
The early 1.8T doesn't achieve the power of the later cars because the later cars have a better hybrid turbo (KO3 Sport) and a basic vvt as well as drive-by-wire throttle. The early engines can still achieve the torque, just not the power, 'cos the early KO3 doesn't flow enough air to let the engine rev properly.
However, the early engine's cylinder head does have bigger valves, so in theory can be modded well with the right add-ons.
If you want a cheapy chip job on your 1.8T try Upsolute. About £300, incl vat and fitting:

Oh yeah,
Jabba will set the characteristics of the chip to your preference. I'll probably forsake a few top end bhp for the sake of mid-range ooomph.

all ibiza's have the Ko3, only the leon cupra had the sport turbo. the leon cupraR has the Ko4. golfs are different. there are also big valve and small valve heads
