And I have to admit I have seen standard Saxo VTS & 106 GTi's run better times.

scousefella santapod is probably the worst place to take a CTR rarely does a standard ctr get a quicker time than an xe corsa, blame honda for having a no lsd approach. also you come across as a bit of a daddies boy and looking down your nose at vauxhalls, i dont know but im guessing you are: 19-22, have a mcfly style haircut, have a 9-5 office job, own a samsung d500
thing is ctrs are great hot hotches and one of the best out there, but a majority of the owners are like you and dont have time or the knowledge to respect a 'cheaper' and 'lesser' car such as a vauxhall corsa being able to keep up, and then overtake you

At the end of the day when I had mine if some1 in a corsa etc had overtaken me etc then i wud jus have said fair play... it would irritate me a little but i was always happy with my choice of car... im sure the same thing will happen when i get my golf as well, even chipped im sure some 'lesser' modded cars will work me hard but ill still be happy with what ive got

No I don't, and that is where people make mistakes!!!!
The 2.0 STi is still a 2.0l - totally different class of performance.
So you can get a Corsa with a 2.0 engine, a chassis which couldn't support sweet FA without some serious modification and a Vauxhall badge to rub salt into the wounds.
No, I see no similarities at all.
We were talking about the car itself weren't we? A civic & corsa are similar size. An STI is bigger, much bigger infact
Civics and Corsa's are both granny mobiles, at least we realise this

Main reason: To annoy people like you
I think you are a little bit confused about how cars work
The engine is the part of the car that produces power, this power in turn is what makes the car move. Its made up of many components that all work in harmony to feed the engine with fuel & air, ignite it, move pistons, turn gears, turn driveshafts & finally move the wheels.
The more power your engine produces means the faster the car moves. Also if it weighs less you get a much better power to weight ratio which also makes you faster as technically there is less of the car than usual.
So just to clarify, the engine makes a car fast.
A badge that contains of a red letter "R" does not make your car fast.
Its all about what is powering the wheels & how much the car weighs.
This may come as a big suprise to you but not everyone buys a car just to say "I have a ..........."
My car has power, and mods to make it safer/handle better
I own a car like this because I enjoy driving. It might not be perfect, but its fun.
People who own cars such as CTR's spend nearly 20K & think that they are the best cars out. Why? Because it cost 20K.
No one really expects a Corsa to be fast. More to the point, people who spend 20K on a Civic dont expect a Corsa to be fast.
So maybe the question should be "Why would you spend that kind of money on a Civic?"
God knows.....

one of my friends has a type R and you can tell he thinks he is the bollox and his car is the fastest thing in the world I'd love to wipe the smile off his face in a corsa/205 etc

I've just joined up on the CTR forum, quite amazed at how immature some of them are. Almost as bad as on here

I put:
Hello
It seems that this thread contains as many stupid & immature comments as the one on our website
I wont appolgise for any of the comments made by fellow members of the site, bottom line is if they want to express their opinion they are welcome to do so. I don't agree with most of what has been said although there were one or two valid points made. Same goes for this thread I suppose.
In my own defence, if you take the time to read though the comments I made you will see I was quite mature aboout what I said. All except for the one claiming that I love satan
Moving onto the car, it seems many of you dont believe I was telling the truth.
Fair enough.
You may not think that it is at all possible for a Corsa to be faster than a CTR, but please stay a little open minded here fella's.
I could take the time to collate figures showing 1/4 mile times etc showing how fast a Corsa can be, but I feel that even if I did it would be a waste of both yours & my time.
Im kind of confused how a lot of you seem to think that this not at all possible. If you stop & think about it, you may realise that it is.
My car is 180 BHP, yes it has been on the rolling road & it is not a guess.
My car weighs next to nothing, its pretty much stripped out totally
In a straight line it is fast, yeah on the bends its not amazing but its not too bad. Afew suspension mods have helped an awful lot!
Now I haven't done my homework on this so I may be wrong. If I am then fair enough & I stand corrected.
A standard CTR is 196BHP (Is that correct?)
So it isn't that much more powerfull than mine, my car also has more torque.
I assume a new car like a CTR is quite a bit heavier than mine, even if mine wasn't stripped out.
Never driven a CTR so I refuse to comment on how then handle. From what I understand they are fairly good though. They are also fast in a straight line.
So my car would the better power to weight ratio.
So can anyone explain to me how it is totally impossible for my car to be faster in a straight line?
Now this is not a "my car is better than your car. ner ner!" argument
Yes the Civic is a better car, the price reflects that
But the topic of this & the thread on Corsasport was not about which is the better car, it is about one car being faster than the other on this ocassion.
I hope the mature ones among you realise this.
Even after reading all this you may still beleive that I am talking out of my arse.
All I can say to you people is have a race with a 2.0 Corsa.
You may win. You may not. But dont pass judgement untill you have actually seen one in action.
Regards
Matt

My point is this:-
The pictures shown above are what Joe Public see's as a generalisation of Corsa owners. Cheap tacky cars owned and run by cheap tacky people. Yes, there will be some who are different from the usuals but in most cases, a cheap nasty car modded to do things it was not designed to do.

You Have Been Trolled!!!
Farewell Corsa peeps - Remember, keep your own engines under the bonnet, leave the Calibra's and Astras alone.

Now, when it comes to “Racing” against CTR’s on the road I will say this. We do not promote “Street Racing” and will not encourage any of our members to participate, however, if, as has been posted, a CTR driver (are you sure? Probably a 1.4i sport) was having a “Fling” with a Corsa (from behind I remember) maybe he couldn’t overtake because he was to busy wetting himself at that pathetic number plate!!!!
I couldn't find this thread Scousefella
Do you have a link to it?
