Wow, not done anything on the car since the begining of January. Made up for it today though...
Smoothed the door handle properly - it is amazing now Mad my own sanding blocks up to do it. Definate tip for anyone doing this sort of thing as you need something nice and big:
Finished article:
Side repeaters are not ditched. I will be relocating them either in the front wheel arches or in the side skirts - depending on what is less illegal.
Getting the rear bumper to fit nicely was the next challenge. I decided to weld some brackets onto the car to hold the bumper in place:
Haha, yes... It fits nicely now
Now to get the bumper to fit a bit better round the arches. Also need to repair the bits I cut out to get it to fit better...
Hmmm, is this the new look for show car interiors?
Nearly done the scuttle now...
Few too many fumes
Looking like I could get the bodywork done this weekend... However we're meant to be painting a car tomorrow which might mean I can't. All thats left yet is the front bumper, the n/s door handle (my welder broke) and I just need to sort the rear bumper too now.
Not going to smooth the roof anymore, too worried stuffing it up or it cracking.

Not sure what to use on the rear arches though, they have a few bumps in them that could do with going... I guess I could use my small block and be carefull.

Looks like some good work mate, fair play for doing it yourself with no real experience!
Have a look at this: http://www.flexiblesanders.co.uk/products.php?cat=9
I can't rate they enough! Quite expensive but well worth it.
Keep it up
Chris

Grrrrr... No alternator on the car + flat battery means I can't get it back in the workshop.... Even with me, Wayne and Si pushing. Damn thing, need to wait until the battery is charged up fully.

Did a bit more on Sunday... Really been working hard on the rear bumper fit. It's got to look 'factory'.
So here we are, a shit load of filler slapped on randomly:
Sanded it back to get a bit of shape and to get the levels right:
It's getting there, needed a bit more filler. Before anyone whines on about it, I am not blending the bumpers in.
Got one side done
Also, fixed my welder as it was completely buggered, bits on the inside broke off so I gled it all back together using Araldite and a filler scraper Sorted the other door handle, not got any pics of the finished article though.
Welded it up:
Ground down:
Filler:
Sanded:
Thats all for now. Wont be doing anymore work for about 2 weeks now as I got to earn some money to pay for it Also need to fit a new engine into my mates Astra...

slapping the p38 on
i tend to use as much fibreglass as possible as i not so sure how strong the p38 is, i only really use it for pinholes/final finishing.
Top stuff tho, nothing like doing it yourself
