Tempting it myself, may require a couple of bolts in the block to be helicoiled which will not be done by myself.

My mechanic has basically said to me, get the head and shite off, and when Im ready to fit the head back on he will come round and do the torqing/timing while I watch and ask lots of questions

Head came off yesterday, it has stripped one of the head bolts from the block (number 6 according to the haynes manual?). If you were looking at the engine in the bay it would be the first bolt on the front left, this is one of two bolts which dont use their whole thread when in the block due to some stupid engine design.

Mayo is at an all time low, I think most of it is under the sealed part of the CAM cover which isnt much of an issue as I have a spare one to put on (which contains no sand )

Head gasket hasnt broken in any places, you can clearly see (pics later) the corner of pot1 has a cooling mark where all the others are goldern brown.

Sadly I'm not doing any more as I'm off on holiday for a week in Cumbria - but my mechanic is coming round early next week to helicoil the stripped slot, bolt the head on and do the timing (something we arent so hot about).

Then its back to the wirring and shit

Also turns out that pot3 is running slightly richer then the others which could possibly be down to an injector giving the large. Costs to replace injectors are fucking amazing, so as it was running sweet before this mayo issue I'm just going to live with it for now.

Seen many do the same Lee?

Studs was an idea, but apparently makes future head changes a complete cunt as in you have to take off one of the engine mounts and lean the engine forward to get it off so the inlet mani clears the bulkhead?

yea thats right mate but only 2 bolts to loosen. and yea common problem my one was so bad it couldnt be helicoiled for a standard xe headbolt so had 2 cossie ones in the front that is the block thats just died thou so back 2 normal headbolts now. its only the end 2 that do it.

Hm, well I'm going for normal headbolts this time round, if it goes again then I'll consider the headbolts.

just get your injectors ultrasonicly cleaned, costs about £40 for 4 and they will clean them and test the flow rates etc...

cheaper than buying new ones. If it does turn out that one is faulty then just get another one second hand and get that one cleaned and tested.

Hello,

Gauges all mounted and working (Oil pressure and temp) :

Very functional

Still got to recon the Ledas, however the car seems to be burning alot of oil (as pointed out by a few southenders yesterday...)

Going by most of the posts in Help zone is most likely valve stem seals, so I guess I will keep my eye on the oil burnnnnage in the next few days and most likely take it to my mechanic to have a chat about the next step.
