yeah thats what i thought, just checked the codes and theres 3 types of star silver :

138/88L: Star Silver I Met (91-97)
147/82L,83U: Star Silver II Met [Bertone] (99-)
157/2AU: Star Silver III Met (01-)

im assuming as the wheels are from a corsa C sxi that the one i'd have to go for is 157/2AU as its 2001 - onwards? i'll try give vauxhall a bell and see what they say.
Thanks Mr . G yeah its changed a fair bit & hopefully for the better

danny mate, that is looking so much better. you going to get rid of the rear wiper? think it would look awesome if you got rid of the rear wiper and left the boot handle

Thanks for the positive comments guys

Haydenover, yep i shall be at pvs have ordered tickets & a show pass for the CS stand

Marklawton, thats an idea i'd quite like to do, do you think a grommit would work? or completly weld & smooth over the hole? i'd like to be able to fit/use the wiper over winter.

i'll have to re-spray the tail gate at some point before pvs anyway due to the car being keyed last year .. so i'll see what i can do

Dont worry deano, the pre97 front is here to stay

due to the wonderful weather i decided to give the corsa a good clean, polish, wax fitted my new pressed plates then went off to take a few proper photos ...

right im looking for a bit of advice/info about re-furbing my alloys.
the painting side of things should be ok, but im a little stuck on the prep... i've got a few scratches on the face/ rim of the wheels and i want to know how i go about filling/smoothing these? do i just use a nic of body filler? or is there a specific product i should look for?

No idea about the alloys, but that looks mint.

I really REALLY like that.

Shame you got a post-97 rear bumper, there are some Irmy add ones for pre-97 on eBay

Update:

Got round to re-spraying the tail gate .. again yesterday morn to cover up where the paint had reacted. also had a bit of a cleaning sesh & took a few pics

This is why i needed to respray the tailgate:

prepped

laquered

still need to flat & polish as there is a very slight orange peel effect. Im assuming a bit of work with G3 will solve this?

picture of the sunglasses holder

Had a cleaning sesh aswell

Now the only problem i have with the car atm is the interior, its a mess and really needs sorting out before any shows, i was hoping to collect a set of cali leathers at the weekend but someone else beat me to it so im still on the look out for a set.

Dan knows the score

simon, i have thought about it..only problem is i have no clue how to weld lol. I must admit im not very good at spraying either but it does help if you have the right kit and someone to help you out. you wouldn't believe the ammout of trouble an problems i've had with every pannel i've painted lol. good job my dad works in the trade and doesn't mind lending a hand to fix my f*ck ups lol,
im still learning an guess its all down to a bit of practice.

Really coming along nicely mate. I've got a smoke grey Corsa myself, and I want to colour code the mirrors, handles and boot lock surround. Also need to spray my bonnet, and maybe my boot (it's rusting).

Any tips? How many coats and that did you do? Any advice would be great.

Thanks Luke

tips, well depends what your painting really & if using rattle cans or out of the gun.

but for example i'd start off with the boot lock surround, with mine i spent a lot of time prepping & sanding it back till smooth to get rid of the 'orange peel effect' i used 500 grit & 320 wet & dry. (to key the item)

once your happy you must wipe it clean (i used tack rags) but you can get panel wipes from halfords etc.

i then used plastic primer .. 2 coats, first being a light 'dusting' once this is dry i used 2 coats of grey primer.
once this is dry i used p800 wet & dry (used wet) to get the surround smooth.
once your happy with it you must make sure its clean (again i wiped it with tack rags)

i then used 2 light coats of colour & a good final coat to cover everything (make sure its dry between coats)

then i used about 2 even coats of lacquer , left to cure for 24 hours, if its not as smooth as you'd like you can use G3 cutting compound to get rid of the texture in the paint.

i no pro so a few things i do when spraying may not be how the pro's do it i've just gone with what i've been told & basically learnt from my mistakes.
