I still think it's a massive shame he's gone to all this trouble but not used the right A pillars and doors

Still hugely jealous of his skills though.

True, it's just that it would bug me knowing it wasn't 'proper', but I am a huge geek.

Always going to be a "replica" though!

He is already planning / talking about building his next one with the correct screen angle and carbon panels etc.

Engine was collected on Sunday

Fuck me, imagine people's faces if it had the wrong amount of cylinders It'd almost be worth doing it just to annoy people.

I might take a trip up to your neck of the woods to have a decent look when it's done, I could do with a holiday, what a perfect excuse

Another update.

The other rear arch is finished, same as the first just without the exhaust cut out.

Then he moved onto the front end. Spent ages getting the bumper to fit how he wanted it.

Then got the grill and front wings to sit better. he has made a bar to connect the 2 front chasis rails together. It will then hold the wings, bumper and grill in place with some Dzus fasteners.

He has also cut the hole for the roof vent, so he has got to use it whether he likes it or not now!

Firewall now just about done.

Then yesterday we went and picked up an engine!

It has lots of new parts with it and a good few uprated parts. Forged rods, arp head studs, new RS2 headgasket, new water pump, new main and big end shells, new crank seals. Lots more bits an pieces as well.

Some of the parts he ordered a while ago landed today. He now has more or less everything need to mock the car up.

Roof cut to weld the tops of the roll cage

Flushed off the tops of the subframe strengthening pipes

Finished the axle stand pipes

He then ran out of gas for the welder. So the doors paid for it by getting seriously lightened!

Now that the axle stand mounts are finished he is going to build a frame with some wheels on for it, so it can be moved around to make it easier to work on. Also it will do for moving the shell to the blasters and painters. Still going through all the little jobs to finish off but the end is in sight!
