I've not watched the match highlights yet since I got back but did N'Gog actually appeal for the penalty?
From the other side of the ground it just looked like he just stayed lying on the ground. I mean imo that makes a difference because if he's not actually appealed for the penalty then its more a case of the ref's perception rather than N'Gog attempting to con him.

From where I was sat I just didnt see much of an appeal by the lad and with our injury luck this season I can half understand him wanting to get out the way of a challenge like that.

Craig I do hope you are not sticking up for the diving badger.

Although with Gerrard to watch every day in training I guess he picked it up from him

The good news is, Liverpool will be watched in the Europa League by these new goal line officials. That will hopefully prevent them conning the ref in Europe at least.

That 11 is not a match for anyone in the world. Spurs, Man City and Villa have stronger starting 11's.

Reina - half decent, looked shakey last night.

Johnson - a failed winger, good going forward terrible defending. His forward runs are exposing Carra.
Carra - slowest man in the league?
Agger - championship quality.
Aurellio - championship quality.

Mascherano - couldn't get in a struggling West Ham team.
Aquilaini - never stood out in an average Roma team.

Kuyt - signed as a prolific striker, converted to a work horse midfielder.
Gerrard - talented, but biggest diver in the league.
Bennayoun - can be decent against lesser teams.

Torres - the 1st female player in the league.

if stevie gerrard was as against diving as he has us believe and wanted to make a good captains inpression on a young lad and let him know diving is wrong etc he would've skied the penalty... should be in prison anyway

Ok, I've just seen it on the YouTube.

From what I can see, N'Gog could have riden that challenge easy enough IMO and still got to the ball. If he had been in the middle of the field running at the defence in a breakaway attack then I seriously doubt he would have gone to ground. He clearly knew what he was doing with regards to drawing a foul, and was going to do down regardless of wether contact was made or not.

Bit of a stupid challenge to make in that situation as well, especially at somewhere like Anfield. Was always asking for trouble sliding in like that. Carsely IMO didn't really impead N'Gog that much, but was still enough to put him off his stride.

Really he should have tried to stay on his feet and regain control of the ball. It would have then been up to the ref to decide wether or not Carsley had impeaded N'Gogs progress to a degree in which he had been fowled.

The fact he went down quicker than Derby County in the Premier League clearly influenced the ref. Some would class that as good play, some would class that as cheating. I personally class it as the former.

So, after all that, I think it wasn't a penalty.

Just looked at the highlights now again.. Ngog could have kept going to be fair, but doesn't take away that it was reckless by Carsley..Both of them should have stayed on their feet Have to commend Birmingham though.. Excellent defensive performance, had 8 players in the box not including the keeper on most occasions and only 2 strikers up field but they managed to occupy the liverpool defenders well.. Passing out of defence was excellent to them also.. Not sure there was much more Liverpool could have done.. Hit the post, had one cleared off the line.. I'm starting to think Ngog should have taken that challenge...

My opinion on it is that it was a blatent cheating dive.

He could have jumped the tackle and stayed on his feet, or he could have taken the tackle and rightly won a penalty, or he could dive

The first one is no foul, obviously, because he carried on playing the game, as he should have done

The second is a penalty, risk injury or not he had 3 options

The third is a dive and a booking

How any of you liverpool fans can say he jumped the tackle is laughable, he clearly dove over it, didn't jump, otherwise he would have stayed on his feet

David Eggnog - Diving wanker

Heather Mills da silva - diving wanker

ronaldo and nani - both diving wankers, and anyone else who does it, should get 4 match bans and then even more harsh the second time, would soon stamp it out

liverpool fans make me laugh.

i accept west ham are playing shit and having a shit season. i never think we will win the league or get into the top 4 yet liverpool fans always think they are going to win the league every single year.

and it never happens...
