That model Ibiza wasn't a very good handler, so it didn't really matter which model you bought.

But they are both exactly the same car, just different engines.

I'd of gone for the diesel too as there just wasn't really any benefit on getting the petrol version because they both handled badly.

I think some people need to except that diesels are as good as petrols, not all diesels are 'fun' to drive, but at the same time not all petrols are!

I got rid of my Clio 1.6 RSi to get a VW Bora 1.9TDi, I was putting £40 in every 4/5 days !
Now am putting £70 in the Bora and gets me a month/month and week out of it.

Best thing i did imo.

I've had more petrol cars than diesel. Seen both sides.

If I wanted a performance car i'd go petrol, but to say DERVs are slow and boring is stupid.
which diesel cars have you had to say that?

citroen ZX d turbo? 306 hdi? if you had a propper modern diesel u wouldnt say that

I've noticed everyone lies about mpg, including petrol owners.

I get 42mpg in my mapped ibiza, I got 32mpg doing the same in a 172 for comparison.

Nope, odd blast now and then but mostly driving back and forward to work.

I've never got anywhere near the 60mpg claims people make, you'd have to be driving at 50 up and down the motorway all day every day to get that, it's just not realistic.

I've had a few vag tdi's, only one that came close to 50mpg was a 110 non pd.

Must have a heavy right foot! I used to give mine a good caining, rarely went below mid 40's (around town) would be mid 50's all day long on the motorway. Dad's VRs gets 60mpg, he doesn't hang around or drive at 50

I dont, never have never will. Like ive been getting 30.6 mpg driving like a disable grandad and been getting about 27mpg in the last couple of months in the colder weather. I dont think thats bad tbh never go on motorway. Tends to be diesel owners like to make up for something by saying their cars do loads more than what it does (like ixmitoxxx what ever has done above).
