Serious post warning I'm after some advice.

I think I need to start doing some compound training, as I've basically been doing alot of isloation stuff (focussing on higher reps, rather than heavier weight) which I understand isn't really the best way to start out?

I currently have a routine doing 3 sets of dumbbell curls, press ups, one arm dumbell press, overhead two handed dumbbell extensions (I think the former two may count as a sort of compound exercise?) and dumbbel lateral raise & hold. Should I be doing the typical compound exercises (I reckon I need to do overhead press, bench press, deadlift, dumbell rows, and maybe some squats) in addition to my isolation exercises? If so I think I'm going to have to invest in a barbell soon, as I currently only have dumbbells. Also, should I concentrate on doing low rep/heavy wieght training to build mass?

Sorry for all the questions, there's so many different websites that tell you different stuff it's a bit confusing!

(Wish I had a spare £400 knocking around )
