Well done to Barca. The better team won.
Utd were pretty much all over them for the first 15 mins, then they just seemed to drop dead.
Utd played alright but made too many mistakes imo.

Too late, will already be remembered as being one of, if not the greatest manager around.

By United fans, not Barca, PSV, Sporting, Porto, Ipswich, Newcastle & England fans.

The best coach in todays football learnt everything from a legend, not a whiskey drinking arrogant Scot.

"Sporting's rivals, F.C. Porto, quickly hired Robson, with Mourinho appointed as his assistant manager and a very young André Villas Boas appointed in his observation department. Porto were in a poor state when Robson arrived and the average attendance had dwindled to 10,000.[86] The club promptly went on to beat Robson's former club, Sporting, in the Portuguese Cup final,[9] following that achievement with successive League titles in the 1994–95 and 1995–96 seasons.[87]

Such was the impact of Robson at Porto, he became known to the locals as "Bobby Five-O" in honour of the number of matches Porto won 5–0,[88] and he signed a new contract with the club in 1995.[88] Suffering from malignant melanoma and missing the first few months of the 1995–96 season, Robson still successfully led Porto in defence of their league title.[89]

A phone call during the summer of 1996 from Barcelona's vice-president Joan Gaspart to discuss Luís Figo resulted in an offer of employment with the Spanish club.[90] Robson took over in July 1996, where once again his assistant was Mourinho; Robson had made Mourinho's move with him to the Camp Nou a condition of his employment.[89] One of the key decisions Robson made during his brief tenure at Barcelona was the US$19.5 million signing of Ronaldo,[91] who was influential in a season when Barcelona won the Spanish Cup, Spanish Super Cup and European Cup Winners' Cup.[92] Robson himself was voted European Manager of the Year for 1996–97, while Ronaldo stated, "as a trainer without doubt [Robson] is one of the greatest in the world".[93]

Well i thought i would be quite depressed after losing 3-1 but reflecting on the season as a whole we haven't faired too badly.

We won arguably the most competetive Premier League since its inception. We narrowly lost out in the Fa cup to a club team which cost half a billion quid and we were only defeated in the Champions League Final by a team widely regarded as the best in history and even them i don't think we played too badly considering.

I think tonights defeat will atleast help convince the United owners we need to invest in the team in a few big names too.

When are Ojc and Steve off to the ring again?

Couldnt really say if utd played well or not, they didnt have a chance to play, the second half they were absent. No-one in the top half of the pitch got a touch for utd until Barca backed off.

Like i said at half time, for the first 20 mins, and 10 mins fter the barca goal, utd were good, other than that they allowed barca far too much space.

Be interesting to see what fergie blames it on

Barcelona deserved it pure and simple.

The greatest team I have ever witnessed with my own 2 eyes.

They play such a weird style of football, I didn't see them take a 'traditional' corner once and they have no striker. Messi plays so deep and just runs at them.

How many of their players came through their youth system?

Andrés Iniesta
Víctor Valdés
Lionel Messi
Gerard Piqué
Bojan Krkić
Pedro Rodríguez
Sergio Busquets

Amazing. Reminds me of another team playing in Red & Blue & their youth academy.

I was speaking to Palace's chairman Steve Parish on Wednesday for my radio show and he told me about a four level academy system likely to be introduced in the next few years. We would be classed in category number one and would be put in their with the likes of Manchester United so the future is very bright. Number one is basically a university, on site training but also a school to give the kids a complete education - similar to Barcelona.
