how it stands
chuffed with the last few weeks progress.. i now have the lovely task of removing all this underseal
once thats done its off with quarters and sills then soda blasting
ohhh i also bought a set of fiesta disks and a conversion kit for the front axle... not 100% sure if the calipers are there but i got it so chep its irrelivant. pics when it comes

Make a trolley for it to sit on. Some box section and heavy duty castors.
Bolted into subframe mounts.
Nice and easy to move round then.
Good work though.

We discussed that but the only time it will be moving is to get blasted, so its a waste of effort imo

so big update..
first on the agenda..
i have been on stripping a little, tough time at the moment so struggling to focus on any job.. everywhere from the rear arches back is stripped now..
some more rust... the drivers side arch needs a fair bit of work
but it turns out my mates welds look great from both sides
second up..
i bought this front brake conversion to change from drums to disks...
third up..
after a tough time the car is now being built in honour of my brother who sadly died recently, he hated it so i feel it will piss him off wherever he is. please no rip messages in here its my project thread and dont want it going that way
fourth up..
some of you lot may have seen me humming and harring trying to work out a decent engine conversion? well i bit the bullet and a bit retail therapy seen me with a local x16xe and everything with it for £140, this will be mid mounted
fifth up..
i spent the blasting money on a nice suit , some new clothes and the engine ect so blasting is postponed

i didnt want an c20xe due to the weight and i didnt want a turbo because feeding an intercooler would be tricky...
couldnt think of many engines as tunable n/a as an x16xe or as cheap
theres a wealth of knowledge on here about them
seemed logical imo
be prepared for ms paint drawings to ask if stuff will work lol

so moving on with the engine conversion im "winging it"...
i had a good look into mating the x16xe to the imps transaxle which seemed a good idea at the time but the transaxle just isnt up to it, even if i was to spend £2-3k on it getting it all sorted it still has inherent weak points...
so i then mooched about for a solution and noticed a classic mini has a similar track..
i then noticed a lot of people use x16xes in minis so had a look into how they go about it..
most use allspeed frames etc but these will take a good bit of adapting to mid mount in an imp.. and at circa £2k full kit for the just arent woth it..
i decided to make my own..
mini subframe..
i then marked a template, stripped it down and then cut fuck out of it
it wasnt quite wide enough so a bit was added to the track... i may need wide arches
some fabbing up..
as it stands on the front mount and gearbox mount
still to do list:
rear engine mount
side bars for strength
adjustable tie bars to keep steering sraight
custom shafts
manifold
cut hole in imp
adapt cage
suspension mounts
exhaust
gear linkage, clutch cable, throttle cable
wiring
the resto will then continue as it was.. engine tuning ect can be done much later
ooohhh if i need wide arches i may get these..

Wasn't expecting that engine, or the choice of mounting! I think I prefer the standard look.

its going to be a big ask in both cash and time soon, every thing once the engine is lined up and fitted very expensive
first child due in august.. after that im not sure how much disposable cash or time i will have..
suppose if i need a part or some graft doing it wont hurt it to wait till i saved or have a bit free time
