my god!!!
proof, variables..... IT IS NOT A SCIENTIC TEST. I'm not looking for a precise formula that derives laptime differnence compared to bhp/weight.
I'm not having a tantrum either I just think you are a prick.
And you are being an even bigger prick taking your childish spam onto other threads where I have posted.
Shall i go find threads of yours and just stir up shit? Yup - no need is there!!

this isn't spam, but it would be interesting for me to see a standard corrado vr6 against a G60 around a track, see whats better, extra power or the lighter engine in the g60.
pretty much the same car but one has more bhp but more front heavy
thats a genuine ponder of mine

its funny how your comments nowadays are so full of shite that you actually have to tell us when its a genuine question/comment.

heaven forbid that you make any sort of comparison if they arent driven by the same person, on the same tyres, with the same fuel, with the same amount of fuel.....
it would actually be a very interesting comparison
I have a comparison of a UK Impreza wagon/estate with 390bhp VS my JDM rev nutter 300ish (exhaust issues outlined earlier)bhp Impreza. This comparison isnt really fair as the drivers are a bit different i.e corner speed/commitment is VERY different.
I'll go find it and post anyway. Might give john a heart attack.

quote: Overlay of James and My laps... i'm brown, james pink ( )
I did a 59, James a 61 so not a huge difference in time really.
Points to note:
I broke about 110m further up the pit straight....
My braking is normally 'steaper gradient' stronger, but is the same on the Hairpin, all be it a touch later (from a slower speed so makes sense). The traces match pretty well there. Very different lines here, no idea which is best, i'd guess james is smoother on exit perhaps
Carlube - the traces are very different. Later on the brakes, in deeper and earlier on the power perhaps
duffis - I enter much further over and cut more
speed v dist
speed v time
hairpin
duffis
dip
chicane

a clearer plot of the two Imprezas with Delta-T
shows quite well how much time is regained on the straights even with just 70bhp or so more (comparable weights this time) - Delta-T coming back towards 0 <baseline>
I have a bloody library of VBOX data/laps from heaps of cars

Alex really seems to lose out to me from the chicane to carlube and in braking zones..... but gains time back on the straights...
Alex - 400bhp, sequential EVO X on 888s - prob about 1400kg?! - 59.51
AK - 300-350bhp Impreza, 1250kg (guess) on P zero rossos - 59.73
I'm about 0.3s infront of him at the exit of carlube/clarks BUT 0.08s behind him at the point where I brake for the hairpin (30m after him but doing 3mph slower).
I make a bit of time back through braking and on the hairpin (0.34 in front at apex) but Alex pulls out a 0.16s lead up the straight to the line!
It would be a great lap together if we had done the laps above in race conditions
MORE POWER!!!

this comparison was just a result of a user on TS asking to swap data for those laps to see where time could be made up.
The EVO above should be a fair bit quicker on 888s with a sequential gearbox... but he seems to lose out on the braking.
If John wants to pick holes in its scientific grounding (or lack of) he can.... it is what it is...

imo, the car with the best brakes will brake faster.
i have no graphs to back this up though.

you can see from the traces above that my car is better on the brakes even with shite tyres, but its slower over the lap (just).
Can really see where i'm loosing out on gearchanges though

so do you plan to rectify your driving based on these graphs.
its getting very technical analysing things, but i spose you are doing competative driving whereas i just wheelspin around the town

i have taken a lot from the data, yes....
I'm pretty ghey on the brakes into the hairpin and slowish out (need to stop trying to get the car composed in 2nd and just stay in 3rd like I used to do).
I need to carry more speed upto the chicane but that would involve a change into 4th as i'm banging off the limiter in 3rd... so I think a few tries with 4th, some with 3rd and limiter (8400rpm) to see how they compare. A change upto 4th for something like 1 sec and back down into 3rd for chicane may not work at all (balance of car etc). I may be able to carry enough speed through the chicane in 4th though (with better tyres).
All in all I can see 3 clear areas to address
McIntyres - i suck at the corner
Butchers (leading up to chicane) - try 4th and various options
Hairpin - just brake later and use 3rd. Better tyres will help a great deal as I was sideways most of the time on the road tyres exiting the hairpin
reference this vid for some to the comments above. Mcintyres is the right after the base coming down duffis. Chicane and hairpin are self explanatory.
