Sounds like Parker might be out injured which is a shame as he would have provided a good solid barrier in front of the back 4

Not bothered who has played and for how long. It's who is better than somebody else.

Adam Johnson is miles better than Downing.

Defoe has goals in him. Who else would you take?

FA on Carrick

"We were advised a few months ago that because of where he was in his career, that he wanted to step back from being called up and sitting on the subs bench. He will help in extreme situations," confirmed the FA's Adrian Bevington.

Ridic :/ surely either declare yourself unavailable for selection or join the squad and fight for your palce

Is seriously unfit due to his dispute with Hearts and not doing a great deal, with a good ore season he will be an asset

Anyone think we might not get out the group stage?

Looking at our squad, though, if we're honest, it really is a pile of shit compared to the proper big guns of Europe, your Spain's, Germany's, Holland's etc

We simply can't produce enough talented footballers.

^^ Exactly my thoughts.

Germany's Frances, Hollands, Spains squads are ridiculous.

I've been watchign alot of bundesliga this season. Some of the Polish players about are better than most of the England squad, I actually think they will be dark horses!

Beg to differ on Holland, take away a few of their top top quality players and the rest of the squad is poor at best... RVP, VDV and Robben with an ageing van Bommel and a few youngsters

I can see your point, but they can actually produce Robben, VDV, V.Persie, Sneijder etc we simply can't do anything like that. The Dutch have been synonymous with producing talented footballers for years and years and years.

Goalkeepers: Tim Krul (Newcastle United), Maarten Stekelenburg (Roma), Michel Vorm (Swansea City).
Defenders: Vurnon Anita (Ajax), Khalid Boulahrouz (Stuttgart), Wilfred Bouma (PSV Eindhoven), John Heitinga (Everton), Joris Mathijsen (Málaga), Ron Vlaar (Feyenoord), Gregory van der Wiel (Ajax), Jetro Willems (PSV Eindhoven).
Midfielders: Mark van Bommel (AC Milan), Nigel de Jong (Manchester City FC), Siem de Jong (Ajax), Adam Maher (AZ Alkmaar), Stijn Schaars (Sporting Lisbon), Wesley Sneijder (Inter Milan), Kevin Strootman (PSV Eindhoven), Rafael van der Vaart (Tottenham Hotspur).
Forwards: Ibrahim Afellay (Barcelona), Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (Schalke), Luuk de Jong (FC Twente), Dirk Kuyt (Liverpool), Jeremain Lens (PSV Eindhoven), Luciano Narsingh (Heerenveen), Robin van Persie (Arsenal), Arjen Robben (Bayern München).

Looks far from average to me. I would put most of them players ahead of Englands.

And obviously a lot of those players we haven't heard of are still probably damn talented, but still just playing in Holland and a bit unknown to us.

De Jong is some good steel in midfield, Afellay is a great little player as well. I'm amazed Emanuelson didn't get in the squad, utterly amazed.
