Saw that one. Prefer buy it now really. I also want someone who'll take the 330 off me really. Pretty sure I've got a deal worked out with Cheshire Performance now anyway. Cheers tho.

hmmmm

opinions on the classic shape P1?

Cult following and does sound nice, but bit too old hat these days? seen a lot more for sale than the Wrx Sti's from 02/03 at the moment

a decent P1 with low mileage thats not been abused will set you back around 7/8k in all honesty, if its cheaper then its probably coming with issues or poor bodywork.

I would hold out, the newages do come up fairly regularly. Question, if you are not too fussed about future power ambitions and would be happy with say 300/320 have you considered a WRX and not an STI?

I bought one 5 years ago and haven't looked back. Provided it's a solid example with decent history / maintenance then should be a brilliant car.

I'd love a P1, it's just an even bigger minefield than trying to find a good newage!

yeh I have seen a few P1's for around 7/8k was hoping to barter them down, as iv found people do tend to bend a little on price if you wave some wedge in front of them

if I was going for newwage I would want to have the Sti purely for all the upgrades, suspension, water spray inter-cooler, 6 gears instead of 5 plus they seem to hold their money better in terms of resale, if I get a wrx I will only be pissed I didn't get the Sti

power wise id get used to it first at standard power (depends if I manage to land one with a PPP prodive upgrade) then squeeze a little more in the future,

if I ended up with say 350-400 at a later stage id say id be happy with that

hmm just did a quick google, quite a few have had engines go after 60k and newer Sti's are more reliable when mapped or tweaked

well that's kinda made my decision then...go for a newer sti still

1 of the best looking Impreza's of all time though and if they are bad as they say, shouldn't be too hard getting 1 that's been forged.

What's the price difference between a P1 and JDM Type R??

I've decided not to sell I'm afraid. Purchase of replacement car fell through at last minute.

I get tired of the chat on soft bottom ends etc etc. A lot can be said for careful maintenance i.e. regular checks of MAF, oil changes and best of all, mechanical sympathy.

There are examples out there with 100k on the original engine. Overall, relatively simple mechanicals and many newage parts are direct replacements (newage Brembo's on mine for example).

Willing to offer buying advice if required.
