well today the sierra managed a 16.4. adam was hardly launching it and clutch was slipping a bit on set off. weridly when he dropped me off for the vectra he hoofed it away and it went properly. so he should have tried that instead of fannying the launches. funny though.

also the slick and the jdm were thinking of a solution for my clutch issues. what its doing is the rivets that hold the springs to the plate, one sheared off. seems like same has happened again. now we tried to drill the rivet, and as you'd expect its soft as shit. so. we are going to get harder allen key head bolts and bolt it instead of rivets. will clear fine and be a lot stronger than a rivet.

thoughts?

If it clears everything I cant see it being any worse than the rivit. Going for a high tense steel bolts?

be a million miles better than a rivet. no clearance problems as it wont stick out any further than the plate does any way.

I say go for it then, nothing beats a cheap repair that might even last.

why not use a hardened rivit if the nut/bolt option has any problems. SS rivits are a git as they are pritty strong and quite hard metal

well id rather nut and bolt it. some proper hard bolt. rivet was as tough as an 8.8 with the drill. so anyting harder 12.9 or more will be way better. custom clutch ftw.

so clutch issues etc. it runs a helix 4 paddle clutch and pressure plate etc. basically this time is like the last time where the pressure plate gave up. well it seems more than likely that it will be.

last time this happened.

one of the 3 rivets sheared off. car feels exactly the same. cant engage a gear when engine is running and if you have your clutch in, its dragging a touch and moving the car forwards. also judders like hell etc. so id imagine same has happened.

so sunday afternoon was looking at old pressure plate with mr jdm and the slick. we wondered how tough the rivets were. drilled into one and it was soft like an 8.8 bolt kind soft. so we thought why not nut and bolt it.

so i went and got some of these

sadly, i really need an m7 allen cap bolt. they dont stock them at the local nut and bolt place, and the other spot in carlisle i tried didnt either. bugger. so i got m6 and m8. now m6 fits. but we may have to make a sleeve for it. m8 might fit with a quick run through with a drill bit. not sure. sadly the old plate isnt at mine to check.

ah well. trying to find some m7's on the interweb otherwise will make do somehow.

if this works, so far it will have cost me £1
