Arbeloa to madrid is done.
Adge, they spent out a lot of money on a couple of holding midfielders last season in kompany and de jong so I would think they will rotate barry/ireland/kompany/de jong

Being reported we're only getting £3.5m for Arbeloa, if thats the case then we should of just kept him for the season imo.

I think he wants to go to be honest...plus we have Johnson for right back who will be first choice and carra can play there too...
Bad business not to sell him with only 1 year left...

Given that we have zero experienced cover for Johnson (unless we put Carra there who HATES it!), missing out on £3.5m could of been a great bit of business should Johnson get injured.
With Dossena going Arbs would also of covered the LB position too, which given Aurelio's injury record and the fact Insua is only young could of been worth while.

Verge?
We've sold Arbeloa as we've signed a much better player in his place.
And Alonso is far from on the verge of signing for them

Arbeloa is better player than Johnson but Johnson still young and English which is the main reason liverpool signed him which is what rafa said. will be a shame to see alonso go i rate him very highly. if alonso does sell i'm not sure you could get any to replace him to be honest.

No he isnt
Arbeloa was a solid player, but he was nothing special in either attack or defending. Johnson on the other hand, who may not be special at defending just yet, it 1000x better when attacking.

I was thinking that myself, or obviously dropping Dunn. But he's the captain and a fan favourite so I'm not sure that would go down to well
If Santa Cruz keeps fit, I reckon he'll be involved a lot as Hughes rates him very highly!

No way in this world arbeloa is better than johnson, the main reason rafa bought johnson is because he can offer that bit more going forwards and could make the difference in tighter games. He needs to work on his defending but with carragher et al around him he's bound to!
Re alosno, sick of speculating tbh.

No doubt wright phillips will inure himself a few weeks into training also
I wouldn't be suprised if they adopted a similar approach to our 4-2-3-1 and played robinho out to the left, tevez to the right and either santa cruz or adebayor to lead the line with barry/ireland as play maker and Kompany and De Jong as holders....

Yeah I agree.
Still depends who they sign this summer and of course you never know what they may do in January!

Not just winning the league as I think they are way behind for any of that.
But imagine they are trying to get a Champions League spot they could easily make some good signings in January to help push for it....

They'll certainly push for 4th, especially now Arsenal have joined United in becoming a selling club.

To be fair to Arsenal they have made a couple of real nice tidy profits on Toure and Adebayor.
Just a shame for the fans they won't spend any of it
