I'm with him on this one, until proven wrong.
Edit - so he's obviously right, which I forgot to say.

summerary (8pages to one post)
158bhp is the over the top, but achievable, 130 to 140 is more likely
port sizes/cams/cc don't affect power that much with a force inducsion
small engines can produce big BHP

go to bed muppet. Well my 2cents, the 1.2 is a Family-0 engine, and is a fairly strong engine in the way it has been designed for longevity over performance. i dont see why it shouldnt produce safew reliable power at +150bhp. And from what was said before, it is not co-designed with suzuki, it was built and manufactured by GM-Opel Powertrain. The other XE engines in the Corsa fall under Family-1 category and are built and designed totally different from the 1.2. This doesnt mean they cant handle high forced induction power IF DONE RIGHT. With certain uprated internal components, 350-400bhp is easily achievable on the Z18XE for example...

Gimme a kiss.
Best thread on here for ages, err I think 160bhp is achievable what bhp are the old Daihatsu Charade Turbos?? They use the 1.0 12v 3 cylinder engines which are simular to the Corsa ones, they are quick.
I reckon it would be excellent to drive that 1.2 16v Turbo, I want a go.
I wouldn't spend 3k on it though.

i think the difference here is everyone knows the big bhp out of a small engine is possible, but not just using bolt on stuff, and being claimed to be reliable too without changing internals

yea i agree steve, starlet turbos, charade turbo's,R5 turbos, are all turbo'd from factory and have the uprated internals to cope with the pressure of the turbo,ie low comp pistons, uprated con rods etc,you can turbo any car and make big bhp by running mad psi and a big turbo, but doubt it will last long with out all the internals being upgraded

who actually said it was reliable? If the box the engine goes then it will need modding to cope. Name me one tuner that will tune a car to a certain level and 100% say that engine will be fine and can take it.

on an n/a engine, if you fit a turbo, you dont need to a lot of boost to make decent bhp increases. infact you can run a lot less than if it was a lo compression engine and make the same power. 6-7psi wont strain a std engine much and it can be reliable

this bloke only got 40bhp from hes turbo's vtr, i think someone should tell him to buy a 1.2 corsa next time!
edit : 131bhp at wheels, so say 160bhp at flywheel, so a 60 to 70bhp increase
not so bad after all
