There are 8000 being made, and only 4000 coming to the uk.
I'd say that makes it a limited edition
Okay they're not going to be quite as rare as the mk1 RS, but they're not going to be common either.

Okay the Focus has around 80bhp more, but is has 4 seats, and is around 250kg heavier.
RS is and more than likely will always be the best all-rounder.
I'd say the E92 M3 is better then the RS4, but you see far more RS4's on the roads. Why? Because its a better all-rounder. (and i've been in both, so my opinion has something to back it up)
Also, the RS will hold its value much better than the VXR-R or R26R.

The RS isn't a limited edition so I can't see the residuals being much better than a standard Focus tbf.
what are the producing, 8000 over 2 years? 4000 total to come to UK? i think that's pretty much a limited edition run

I would say 4000 cars is a fair old whack, they only make 2500 Corsa VXR & Astra VXR's a year but you see them everywhere!
So 2500 a year added to the 3 years they have been on the road you are looking at 7500 cars, not a great deal more than the RS.
Deffo not a limited run IMO.

i don't see many astra/corsa vxr's tbh, see far more focus/fiesta st's.
and 4000 is a limited run in my eyes, its hardly a huge amount

7500 is nearly double the amount of RS's you will see on the road.

If its a production that is "limited", then once again, id say its a limited run

I don't think 4000 is limited at all. BMW has sold around 1200 M3 coupes so far of the E92 variant, and you see at least one every couple of day's...

Yes, that would be a limited run, but it would also be a rare one.
Its funny how things work though.
My brother has a WR1, and there were only 500 of them made.
My dad has a 993 Turbo, and there were about 6000 of them made.
Guess which i see more of though.

At this post.
VXR will be faster on track.
RS will be quicker on the road.
VXR has had its parts developed by Thorney, buy using their Dunlop Sports Maxxed entry VXR Racing car. They've been tinkering for the last 2 seasons. Gonna get experience for that.
But, I have no doubt that the Focus RS will be an awesome drive, more comfy on the road, more planted on the road (Race suspension means stiff, pot holes = pain in body, where as a fast road suspension is more supple and takes the bumps better).
Speed, its gonna be close, but we'll see.
Also, the VXR is tuned, to get it more tuned will stress it further on standard internals (not read anything about uprating internals to cope with extra power), so to get much further, your going to need to spend big £££.
On the RS, the engine has more power to give, and aftermarket tuners will get a little more power from it without stressing the engine much more.
Its back to the old VXR Vs ST argument, which is always funny to read.
I'll wait for results from a track day or some real time tests comparing the two, until then, its all a load of BS Hippycrap that people THINK will happen.......
I very very VERY much doubt anyone has driven the VXR R and the Focus RS to really make a real comparison. So save the willy waving for then

I'm not saying it going to be really rare. But as i've said already, they are limiting the amount of RSs produced, therefor it is a limited run.
The point is, once they reach 4000, they won't keep making them, hense the word "LIMITED".

They won't limit it.
They will get to 4000, realise they are still selling, and make more.
My dads bike it limited, 150 worldwide, THATS limited....
4000 really isn't limited is it

I agree with Daimo, a company in Ford's position is hardly going to stop making them if they sell all 4000 quickly. Chances are the won't, they'll be some sat around car parks for months and they'll have to slash that price tag

The intial ones will sell quickly, say around 2000 of them to the fanatics, and like Nik said the rest will sit in dealerships for months.

They can't say they are going to do a limited production run, and then say, actually, no, we'll keep making them.
Hope they won't anyway.
Fuck it, even if they do, my dads keeping the mk1 RS, so we'll always have one rare RS

That has happened before. When I bought the CTR back in 2001/2002 Honda said they were only making X amount of cars in each colour, they ended up making far more..

What you mean like vauxhalls original quote of limiting manufacturing of the VXR to 2000 per year, for 2 years.......
Supply and demand, if they are still selling well at 4000, more WILL be made....
(or do you think that Ford are just making 4000 to break even, and have no interest of making a profit if the chance is there???)
Many manufactures have said "limited numbers" and then made more as the market required..
Mk1 RS, theres a good vid of that having is aRSe handed to it by the Escort cossie on youtube 10+ years later, same power, less driven wheels, much less performance (oh but top speeds up but 2-3mph whoop whoop ).
I like the RS, but it was the only car of its generation to have a LSD, so of course it was going to whoop everything else...

*without sounding jumped up* Seriously how?
I'm agreement with Robin here The VXR-R is nothing more than something thats had suspension bolt ons and a remap and been tested on the back streets of Luton. (Sorry Ollie)
I'm not saying the RS is better but all you can hear are assumptions based on opinions here. I think its pretty safe to say we will have to wait to see the motoring press take on this.
Oh and Ollies yes that Knuckle technology has been around for a while even the Megane diesel 170 runs that set up.

might be different these days, but ford said with would make 500 of the racing puma, and as far as I know, they stuck to it.

The racing Puma was never really going to be a massive seller though really. I'm sure the same was said for the original RS6, started off only being 1000 being brought over here. I'd say alot more hit our shores.
