I found it for sale on another forum but it was posted the same day the PH ad was done so it ties in there. The only bit I hope is ok is that the guy said on the first of january that the car was still for sale. I just hope tigers deal was done after this or on the same day at a later time lol.

cant you msg this user and ask them if its still for sale and see what their reply is?

He remembered to do that but not to leave the keys Sounds like they want to pull out of the sale tbh.

I hope you realise that sending moneys to dodgy people without having keys is not a good idea now, i'd say at least 10 times sillier than carrying 8k cash on your person.

I hope you get it back, it sounds like there is hope but make sure he knows that you are serious about getting your money back on the date agreed. TBH the whole think is laughable and I hope you've learnt a lesson!

Hi Everyone, I spoke to the guy again this morning who said he was going to sort the money out at around 2pm, I left him an answerphone msg about 15 mins ago to see what happened.

I think this could also be the case. He did say he has had offers higher than the sale price.

only way to sell/buy a car private is to go into the buyers bank, do a transfer there and then or get a bankers draft done...go to sellers bank and check money has gone in/pay in bankers draft

carrying cash is a bit risky

sending money is stupidity

hope it turns out to be ok

I called the guy again a bit a go, he'd checked and said the money hadnt gone in yet, which is a possibility. He is checking again tomorrow morning and letting me know if its gone in, in which case he'll transfer it back.

I've told him to do an express transfer anyways and I told him the money needs to be actually in my bank account by friday else i'll give the police his details and car reg number and let them deal with it.

Doubt the po po would do much tbh, its your own fault transferring that kind of cash to someone you've met once. Hope it all gets sorted for you though pal.

Gutted for you Tiger really hope it works out.

If the HPI checks out and the V% is registered to the address you visited I would say it should work out.

Well, after speaking to him again today:

The money is now back in my account.

Moral of the story is: Dont do a bank transfer without a guarantee.

Yes i've learned my lesson and won't be doing any bank transfers without keys/v5/substantial guarantee

Thank you everyone for your concern and/or help.

I know I can rely on you guys for support and I thank you for that.

I'm not opposed to Bankers Drafts, after there were a lot of fakes going round, people are more reluctant to take them without being with you when you get it from the bank...
