Well it can't make calls so no its not meant to be a phone. The way I see it is a netbook kind of thing and if I get one thats how it will be used.

The thing is with the fact it doesnt have multi-tasking it doesnt really need to be any more powerful.
I do want one, and I think it would get some use, but Im wondering if to wait until they do V2 (which they'll add these things on) or see if someone installs OSX on it and go down that route.

What will they add onto it next year to sell to exactly the same people who buy one this year?
A camera or something?

I was going on about this a few pages ago - it'll be a camera no doubt, probably make it smaller by getting rid of some of the bezel around the screen, etc.

TBH a camera on it doesnt bother me, the faults I have with it (from what Ive read its like online) are mainly software so will be ways around them.

The iPhone now has really good hardware, the iPad looks to have really good hardware, I'm unfortunately not style conscious enough (at all) to go and pay double what a better product from another manufacturer could cost though.
Apple have a brilliant marketing team and I can't fault that, they've yet to bring out anything that's actually new or unique though, when they do either that or something that is more useful than an equivalent I wouldn't have a problem splashing cash on one.

Marketing can only get you so far tbh, they certainly wouldnt sell the huge amount of items they have done purely from good marketing (dont get me wrong, they would still sell a huge amount).
I think its more a case of no real competitor being out there with the style and features so consumers have a much better choice.

The first iphone barely made phone calls, look how well it sold, that was 100% pure unadulterated marketing, you know my stance on it though, I should just not post because I always end up saying the same thing

Looks like they have really gone out to make sure that its as slim as possible and as a result held features off it.
According to engadget it does 720i

if anyone else had released a tablet like that thats basicly a laptop with a phone operating system everyone would be jumping on the thats fucking pointless bandwagon. Its only because its got an apple logo and box that people have spent 9 pages trying to convince themselves they have a need for it.
Thats the difference, and its all down to marketing/pr/image.

If it could have done 1080p (with formats people use, not one proprietary format)via hdmi that could have been a whole different ball game, would be an easily hidden media center.

The thing is 9 pages because it was a much talked about release, and that was down to the secrecy around the product and the potential it could of had.
And tbh if another company had stolen a march on Apple and done something that looked as good as it, along with the instant access to the huge number of apps, etc. then it would of got a bit of buzz on here.

It'll look shite compared to this though no doubt which is one problem they'll have making it popular, and it wont have the instant access to the app store which is a big big selling point for Apple.
