I don't agree with why they are protesting, but i support peaceful protest.
They have just shown a picture on sky of some greasy cambridge type swinging on a union jack flag at the cenotaph. They deserve to die.
It stopped being a peacefull protest as soon as they decided to devieate from there agreed route, and ignoring police control. That was orcestrated by "real" students and NUS "leaders", so yes it was the students that started the riots not the "trouble makers".
All those disrespecting the Union Flag, or statue of Winston Churchill should be exported or shot. Think what would happen if you burnt an American Flag, whilst defacing the Lincoln memorial......

I honestly expect at least 50% of students to never pay back their loans for this reason... I know loads of people who barely pay anything back each month and their loan just keeps growing each year

That's one of the excuses the politicians are using. They were saying that a lot of students will never repay their loan. BUT, they were saying it like that's a good thing. Tuition fees should be raised, budgets should be cut and university should be for the top 20% of the population again and other methods of education should be brought in to give people relevant skills. I'm sure the situation is a lot more tricky than that, but I don't think everyone has the right to go a university place if they want it. Some people just don't have the academic skill to do it.

Except in the grand scheme of things petrol isn't actually that expensive. For instance Bulmers (or what ever you'd rather) is around 2 quid a litre, compaired too the £1.20 a litre for regular unleaded. Now think 1L of fuel can get you 30-40 miles (say for an average car) where as 1L of Bulmers will last all of 5 or 10 minutes.

I didn't realise war memorials etc had been vandalised. That's disgusting and actually infuriating. I've been like a hermit this week with uni work, ironically enough, so had the luck of not seeing any of this on the t.v. Our campus organised a walk out thing, like a wee march, but that was it. And that was against lecturer cuts on our campus, not tuition fees. But what use is it to disgrace the nation by disrespecting war memorials?! Ignorant fools.
