y do u think? maybe cause 106 gti is one of the best hot hatches u can buy, or culd at the time, i know u lot are gunna start off saying it aint but fact is it was voted car of the month for ages by evo, most reviews are good

UNICHIP is a far afar better bit of kit that the apexi and cheaper. you cannot afjust timming with the apexi you can with the UNICHIP.

im getting the apexi for a very good price, a lot less than a unichip, at the mo, the apexi is the best option, but i am aware the UNICHIP is better, plus have you seen the apexi s-afc

Hi Dave,

I agree with you completely on the X16XE engine front, some small mods and *bang* bye bye

Some Vauxhall engines are indeed extremely potent for tuning.

The figures I posted were achieved with less mods than Pete was listing. All I have done is optimise the intake and exhaust system. I have yet to work on the ECU, head or cams and I cannot really be bothered as it's too much work. Going from 75bhp to 111bhp for around £600 is not bad for a car with such a low rep. Although it's annoying it does have it's merrits...........no-one wants to steal a Micra HAHAHA!!

The problem we have asside from the OAP factor LOL is that Nissan only made a lousy 998 or 1275cc engine for the Micra and insisted to call one of them a Super S. Please!!! Super Sports? Yeeewhaaaa??

I wish there was a model with the GA16DE engine as it would be much better, but as many will say it wouldn't change the car. Nissan engines are extremely good and strong out of the box but like the piddly CG13DE they come with they are also heavily de-tuned like your engine. 2 cats, a drinking straw for an exhaust and nasty induction. Spend £500 and you can easily pack on 25bhp, more if you know some info on engine tuning.

In addition to this, work on the cams, head, ECU and compression, there is a potential for some big power. Some have reached 180bhp but they are undrivable and cost a packet, which makes it completely impracticle.

Anyhoo, hope you drag that lump up to 150bhp and beyond soon

yes and maybe the RR you had done was crap. 36hp from a N/A 1.3 engine for 600.
