Haha yeah it's red... Doesn't matter though as it's not an MOT requirement.
It's more pink than completely red.

Doesn't everyone tell you that it's pink?

Everyone tells me i've got a reverse light out, which I then have to explain that it's not a reverse light, it's a fog light.

Gets annoying after a while.

Bloody hard work removing tint spray with clear lacquer on top! Used tint remover and I thought I had ruined them, so sprayed over them and it messed up, so rubbed away with a cloth and the whole lot eventually came off. Lucky!

1 down, 1 to go.

I was in a very productive mood, so washed the car then gave the engine bay a wipe and noticed the scuttle panel looked very faded. You can see how bad it is in the 50/50 below.

Whilst that was out, I noticed a lot of leaves and mud underneath that, so cleaned it all out using a combination of hosepipe, cloth and hoover.

Nice and clean now. Also greased the thread for the wiper nuts as they were squeaking before. No more squeak now

All done and a lovely clean exterior, ready for the polybushes and wheel alignment tomorrow.

Yeah pretty easy to remove. 2 caps on wiper nut, 2 16mm nuts, 2 wiper arms, then 2 plastic push rivets and it should come out.

Used autoglym bumper care on it, but there are more permanent and better products from g-techniq iirc.

So far so good. Steering feels more positive and It now drives straight, rather than constantly pulling to the left.

Feels like the steering has been stiffened up, and less movement gets a bigger reaction.

Can't say I feel the ride is any harsher, felt alright on the 20 mile trip home.

Much better:

He said the bushes were so deteriorated, they fell apart as he took them out. That's probably why it drove like shit then

Definitely recommend these guys for anyone in the area. They're very knowledgeable and also car enthusiasts.

Why not? It's catchy.

Was funny when the receptionist girl answered the phone. ''Hello, Skidmarques''.

I emailed. She picked the phone up to a customer when I was in there.

Cars so much better when taking bends more eagerly than necessary. Feels planted and doesn't wallow around like before.

I suppose if i replaced every bush with polyurethane, it may well become pretty firm, but these feel great.

Would replacing the arb bushes be worth it?

You are comparing knackered factory ones to polyurethane.

See Jim's comment earlier

On a nice smooth road in race mode they are very effective. I too have only partial bushes that are poly'd. Rear trailing arms and front rear wishbone ones.

I'm not saying you're lieing Jambo, maybe the E85 is stiffer as standard than the E36?

Seems to suit my driving style better anyhow. Didn't feel any lack of comfort on my drive to and from work today.

And I finally sorted out installing my auxi input properly.

Convenient opening below the cd player:

Drilled through the plastic and screwed the faceplate on:

And done:

Unfortunately the aux lead seems to be buggered as it doesn't play out full volume on the passenger side, so will have to order a new one.

You can also see my vinyl wrap that's creased. Will be pulling it off soon.

You did a crap job on that wrap
Should buy that leather effort and give it a try.

I've put my aux port in the same place but on the passenger side out of my way so the cable dangles into the passenger side

I would hazard a guess the Z4 is MUCH stronger than mine, was designed in the 80's and feels like it's made of cheese with the kid off

Didn't think of that tbh I did test it out with the lead in and it seemed ok.

Think i'm gonna go round the shiny edge of the faceplate with a touch up pen as it really shows up in those pics.

Couldn't live with the silver metal showing, so gave it a quick paint with a touch up stick.

Nice and discreet now.

I'd like to get a usb connection installed aswell, but i'm not sure whether it's possible.

I'm very aware the interior needs a thorough clean. Look at the end of the stalk next to the wheel perks of working in production.

You could get a USB socket installed as a Charging point easily, but probably not for Stereo Integration (though I assume you do mean for charging...)

I meant for stereo aux in isn't the best for sound quality. It doesn't give much bass at all, even after playing around with the settings.

Charging would be a benefit though.

Don't know about Integration atall, especially not for a BMW system.

Charging point is easy though - dismantle a USB Charging Plug (for lighter socket), mount in desired position, hardwire to 12vDC circuits.
