Sean im not too sure what to do about the tank tbh mate. I think I'll decide when I've got the car up in the air so I can see whats involved in removing it. But yeah I'll have it up on axle as high as I can get it. I dont think its going to be a fun job to do lol but at least I'll know its well protected after for many years to come
Cheers Dan and Kie, cya both on saturday!

Cheers Jed
First up heres some pics I took from saturday of the car Had a fantastic day! Got to meet loads of new faces and had a great laugh
Now looks like this
Sunday I got the car up on the stands and started stripping the underside down. So far i've removed the crash bar, exhaust, and rear suspension
Exhaust needs a good polish after I dragged it along the floor on the country roads in castle combe
Heres a pic of the underside before I start work on the underside to give you an idea of its current condition. it not too bad tbh. Just a few areas where the factory seal had flaked off a surface rust has started. Other than that it nice and solid still.
Next job is to disconnect the brake lines and hand brake cable so I can drop the beam
One thing I am a bit gutted about is that my car only has one exhaust shield. I wanted to have lots of posh silver ones underneath Ahh well I'll have to settle with just the one lol

I know Popped one and they've stopped making the tyres I've got so I had to have a proxie. Still shed loads of tread on the others so they wont be matched up for a while.

Update
At the weekend I stripped down the brakes so that I could disconnect the hand brake and brake pipes. Turned out to be a lot easier to do than when I stripped down the new beam which suprised me! While I was at work on saturday my dad took the beam off and stripped it all down ready for me to crack on with it on sunday
old beam ready to go to the scrap metal chaps
Next was the messy job of degreasing the underside. I got my overalls and goggles on and got stuck in! I was black by the time I'd finished But its now squeeky clean and white under there
All ready for me to strip off as much of the factory underseal as possible and treat all the rust spots
Now I had the beam stripped I could try out my deox-C on my backing plates! All I can say is this stuff is bloody awesome!
heres how one looked before -
After 24 hours in a deox-c bath
Just needs a quick wire brush to get the last stubborn bits off and they are ready for galvanising and painting! Amazed at the results tbh!
Polished up my Janspeed backbox as well
Just got to the do the mid section next when I get chance.
Got a couple of goodies through the post as well -
My beam and ARB have been powdercoated now as well, just need to pick them up when I get chance

Thanks everyone Should keep it nicely protected once it all done.
Sean, yeah I've decided to leave it on mate. I thought its not like im going to have the underside on show so it will just be done in the same black stone chip rather than taking it all out and spraying it.

Fair play lad! I was a lucky boy that I didn't have any rust to get off and treat, which was good
Looking forward to the updates!
