Take them off bud! You will be there longer taping the up than taking them off. May as well do it tank to tbh, will be better results and get it sealed everywhere.

Yeah its a bit scabby in places but the poor things knocking on about now so its to be expected really
Mark you aint kidding me I dont do walking lol. The end result better be worth it!
Got my beam and roll bar back today They have done a great job on it, chuffed
Should have given it a wipe off as its proper dusty but I was all excited lol
Shiny!
Fitted my Polysport bushes to it as well, dead easy to fit compared to normal bushes
Finally yesterday and today I've been working on the rear panel I wire brushed the rust spots back then coated them in Deox gel over night. Today I scrubbed off the deox gel then rubbed back the whole panel and gave it two coats of Electrox. Should keep the rust at bay for a while
Next up is the rear inner arches which will be getting the same treatment

Im afraid id have to disagree, all looks minor to be honest, no holes as such, just surface rust, as the back panel shows once rubbed down and treated, be like new and very well protect, that back panel looks immense. Think you definitely went for the right products

Thanks everyone!
Cheers John! Can't recommend the Bilt Hamber stuff enough, really does give amazing results! I am pleased with how the rear panels come out, just a shame about the whacking great dent in the middle of it
Kie I've put it back in its bubble wrapping just incase My dads trying to convince me to leave them on but I want them off now, I'll have to dig out the haynes manual and see whats involved in taking them off so I can have a play at the weekend.
Jake I didnt know whether it was meant to be there or not lol. I tried scraping at it with a screw driver but it wasnt budging so I left it on
Chris is was £48 inc vat to have it blasted, zinc coated then powdercoated in gloss black

Long awaited update finally
After I finished off the rear panel I started on rear arches. I'd previosly painted them with hammerite and then undersealed them so I wanted to get all that stripped off. So I went a bit crazy with the wire wheel and stripped them both back to bare metal. You know the feeling of when you know you shouldnt have started something To me about 8 hours in total to do both lol!
I then treated the rust with Deox gel over night and gave them two coats of elextrox after
Re seam sealed them too so they are nicely protected
Then I started on the floor. Gutted to say I've found three spots which need a bit of welding though Wounded. This will be sorted once the cars back on the road though.
Apart from the three iffy bits the rest was in pretty good nick! My dad gave it all a good going over to get all the loose off so that it could then be treated ready for stone chipping!
So this is where I started today First job was the get the car completely masked up as it wasnt going to be the cleanest of jobs lol
I got stone chip EVERYWHERE in my hair, mouth, eyes, up the side off the house etc lol. Thank god the paintwork was covered! Really impressed with the Gravitex stone chip though! Has a lovely orange peel effect so it looks nice and standard. I used just under 3 bottles in the end
Left it for about an hour then unmasked it
Braided hoses fitted too!
You can see the areas which need some welding. We masked them up so that they can be welded up after when the cars back on the road and then we can just touch un the un stone chipped areas
Heat shield painted
During the I had a very nice packaged delivered. Wonder what this could be hmmm
Hello sexy new gaz rear coilovers
Next me and my dad refitted the ARB to the beam and then fitted it to the car. Trial fitted one of the coilovers as well to check the clearance
Is it right then spring drops right down like this btw?
Finally the crash bar was given a fresh coat of paint and refitted
Loads more to do! Really need to get a move on if its going to be done for trax
