Isn't funny really it's not the greatest of designs. Can't see from them pics if they have chnged it or not.

The 160mm Ariel hasn't got a great review in MBUK this month due to price vs. components. Got Acera shifters on a £2,600 bike
I was hoping the 140mm version might be a bit better.
I don't think the frame is going to be that much cheaper than the Hustler frame tbh.
Just need some lighter wheels and components as it's built quite burly and heavy by today's standards and for today's short up and down trails.

Me and a lad from work went out today round the north and south loops at Whinlatter. We were a little disturbed when at the top of the south loop, we found a chav dad with his three offspring. Not one had a lid and one of the kids was on an old BMX with no brakes! The other bikes could only be described as scrap.
My mate said to take care on the way down, to which, the barrage of abuse was epic lol. I said to him he was a prime example of Darwinism but I feel that went straight over his head. Fucking unreal some folk...

Still amazes me the amount of people I see without helmets. Especially children.

The worst offenders are parents who don't wear them but for e the child too. Bloody set an an example and wear one yourself as well.

I don't wear a lid, but I don't do anything too extreme, just a bit of XC. I had a heavy fall the other week at the croft trail, but landed on my chin, so a helmet wouldn't help anyway.

Not wearing a helmet is just plain stupid especially on any sort of trail whether it be xc or singletrack. It only takes one fall and it could be hello vegetable patch.

I don't think you can tell people to wear a helmet or not. At the end of the day if it's not legislation it's their call...that doesn't stop me thinking twat every time I see someone without

And helmets aren't expensive or uncomfortable these days. No excuses imho.
When ever I see a parent with no lid and child with one on, we always say what use is the parent when they're on the floor and child all alone...

I see what you're all saying, but if it starts to get a bit out of control, I slow down. I'm more worried about breaking a arm or leg, which are the bits that hit the deck first.
Do any of you lot wear body armour?
I'm fine on the trails I go on most often, but it seems every time I go to the Croft trail, I do fall off. The last one was bit of a eye opener, but the worst bit was my ankle, and a split lip.

You can never predict an off, so that is a flawed theory. I don't see why you wouldn't want to wear a lid. As said, they're not expensive or uncomfortable these days.
Only wear body armour when DHing or FRing. Never XC or trail centres. May be knee pads.
Had plenty of offs where a lid has saved me. Dad has had concussion before after an over the bars and bang on the head. No lid = worse.

Worst I had was when a chain snapped on me when I was giving it a bit on a climb. My head was planted into the road before I even knew what was going on.
No lid that time it would've been bad, lucky it was just a dented lid, bit of gravel rash and a mocking from Barnes...

I've fell off loads of times and smacked my head a few of them. One the pedal on the bike as it came flying over me smacked the helmet. That would've hurt.
IMHO it's ridiculous to ride a bike in a trail of on the road without a helmet, however it's up to the individual themselves. I'd rather not ride with someone who doesn't wear one in case something bad does happen.

£40-£50 upwards would get you something decent imho, until you start doing longer rides and get into biking more, then upgrade.
£75-£100 would get you a long term keeper.
Giro is always a safe bet. Specialized helmets used to he good too. Met aren't bad. So much choice.
Go to a decent LBS and try a few on, as with saddles, ones man's comfy is another man's pain!

When I came off and broke my collar bone before crimbo I cracked my head on the ground resulting in having to buy a new helmet. I would never ride without one tbh. Mine cost £50 as I waited for the sales and I don't need some fancy full face thing as I only ever ride xc and trail centres.
