Does anyone know if the Pioneer DEH-P3550MP head unit supports the hard-wired remote?
A hard-wired remote is different to the IR remote right??
Im confused...

I cant find anything on the 'DEH-P3550MP' hu. Nearest i found was DEH-P3500MP which says it only has hard-wired remote controls.
I think hard-wired and IR are different, as I got the Pioneer DEH-P77MP in my corsa and it has both hard-wired + IR remote control, but I have used the IR remote adapter to link it into my steering wheels controls. But think ya could probs get it wired into you cars controls with a different adapter instead of using IR.
Not 100% sure though.

Does that mean you have lost the ability to use the IR remote?

Nope, dont think so but I never got the Pioneer IR remote as just got it wired up to the steering controls.
But it would be like having to IR remotes for your TV, so it should still work fine.
I got a little IR thingy that sends the signal to the front of the headunit when I click my steering wheel controls.

Your not wrong there..
After a very extensive search on the net (im buggered from it), i discovered that Pioneer themselves make the adaptor.
http://www.pioneer-eur.com/eur/product_detail.jsp?product_id=2907&taxonomy_id=25-38
Now that i've found that out, all i gotta do now, is find someone who will ship one to Australia.
I'll give that place you got it from an email, and see what happens.
