Is the 1.4 16v a straight swap for the 8v or does the ECU and stuff need doing too? My head gasket has gone and i need a new engine, but wouldnt mind the extra 8bhp if its a straight swap. I dont wanna spend any extra on it cos im going for the C20XE conversion next year when i can afford the insurance.

Don't think it'll go cos you have to factor the EGR valve and other little things like that. Speak to Lee Mitchell as he'll know the exact difference

anything other than a straight swap isnt worth the £ cos its only a temporary engine. Cheers for the reply tho, i got to go to the garage now hence me posting in general chat for a quick reply!
