Please email me first if you plan to register a new account from an AOL email address or dial up connection. Failure to email will result in the registration being denied. Ta.

ian@corsasport.co.uk

Please also note that although we are able to rename people, this is not an easy thing to do, even more so if you are a premium member. There are all sorts of geeky technical reasons which I'm not going to bore you with.

As a result, requests for a rename will be treated as low priority if you have been registered less than 6 months. Can I also urge you to think very carefully about your name if you are signing up for premium membership, and sort that out before you sign up.

As a workaround, edit your profile to change the email address and simply register another profile.

I don't like having to make posts like this but I'd prefer 5 minutes thought by you to 20 minutes work by us.

2 points if I may...

1) You said you have to go through the database and change EVERY post the user has done... if this is the case, would'nt it be easier to change the likes of my name because ive only been here a month, i.e less data to edit

2) I am surprised at how technical such a process of a name change is, as I myself design vBulletin boards, and with them you can just go into the users account and edit it, but I see its not so simple with this board.

No worries.

1) No, although every post needs changing, its only one SQL statement.

2) This board isn't really comparable to vBulletin. It was originally free and terrible and we've hacked it about a bit, hence the garage etc. The side we didn't spend much time with was administrative features as there wasn't much of a demand for them.

So just one simple SQL statement? If I write the statement, can I have a name change?

One for the posts. Perhaps two in total when you include the one in the member table.

Plus you've the time SSH'ing in to the server and the risk in rushing it if you get an ALTER statement wrong.

I wrote my renaming script for standard users.... it doesn't deal with premium members hence the problem... I will expand it at some point but I'm too busy for such a small thing...

We can rename a std user in less than a second...

The feature was never added to the user's own control panel as we felt it may be abused...

Not really technical, bit geeky...

Always thought it was a bad idea to have such a distributed Prem. control panel...
