ive been pulled for having my neons on and i got a producer, the woman copper said they are illegal i wanna know for 100% as in see some written evidence that you can not have green lights coming from the rear, sides of fron or the under neath of your car. does anyone know were i can find it?

It is illegal cos it distracts other drivers, and only emergency vehicles can have blue green or orange lights

i got pulled by coppers for having my leds (green) on loads of times but never got anything other than verbal warnings and someone told me its because it was projected light and that you couldnt see the lights themselves. you are safe though with red at the back, amber on the sides and white at the front. and blue is a definate no no in the polices eyes

i've read on here b4 that they are legal 
maybe it was the red at the back and white at the front that was legal... not sure have a search, think it was in general.

yes you will, they are illegal.
the only lights allowed to be shown on vehicles using public roads are as stated before;
white at the front,
amber at the sides and.........
red at the rear
and, the car fashon police should lock up ANYONE who has led's anywhere on their car!!

If your Light TUBES are on show! thats a different matter as you are showing the 'LIGHT Source'... so you need White to the Front.. Red to the Back and Amber on the Sides!
I think it says it all that they only gave you a poducer!!
I've had the same thing with my Green Neons!... told him I had wrtten to the DOT.. and they said there was no law (as yet) about having a Glow under your car!
A use the distraction THING on you!!!
I can list a load of distractions whilst driving!! so where do they draw the line!
If your daft enought to take a £30 fine off them they will try ot.. but if you look at what they are fining you.. it will NOT say.. driving with neons on!
You will not fail a MOT with neons either!
ask your MOT station.

mate, it is illegal to at any time show a light source on you're vehicle that is anything other than the colours stated

no neoquip has it sopt on there, i never failed my mot or anything with mine on and i had 10 bars underneath, and never got a fine or anything just a warnign nad my car checked over every time and i was getting pulled over about 3 times a week for them been on

they are not on when you have you're mot done, muppet. y u think you got pulled over 3 times a week for having them on??
because it is illegal to use a vehicle on a public road or highway with them on!!

Dear Phil,
The legal situation for neon is not clear cut and can not be
satisfactorily answered until there is a court case on this subject.
Nevertheless, I can give you the DfT opinion. However this must not be
interpreted as the definitive legal position because only a Court of Law
can provide that.
Please refer to the Road Vehicle Lighting Regulations 1989 - see
attachment.
The Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations (RVLR) control the colour of
light that may be shown by vehicles. Regulation 11 states that only red
light, and no other colour of light (with a few specified exceptions
such as amber light from direction indicators) may be shown to the rear
of a vehicle. Red light must never be shown to the front of a vehicle.
If a lamp is a Side Marker lamp ("A lamp fittted to the side of a
vehicle and used to render the vehicle more conspicuous to other road
users") then it must be amber.
If a lamp is a Front Position lamp ("A lamp used to indicate the
presence and width of a vehicle when viewed from the front") then it
must be white.
The law is not clear on lamps fitted underneath the vehicle. Although
the actual surface of the lamp may not be visible to other road users,
the presence of coloured light is nevertheless obvious to someone stood
near the vehicle and it could be argued that some light is showing to
the side, rear or front of the vehicle. In which case it must be red to
the rear and should be amber to the side and white to the front.
Leaving all this aside, we would strongly discourage use of the colour
blue, because that is the colour associated with emergency vehicles.
Interior lighting ("light to illuminate the interior of a vehicle") is
generally not subject to the RVLR. However, as I am sure you recognize,
a common-sense interpretation of this would be taken by the Courts.
If you have a bright light, which is inside a vehicle but which is
directed outside the vehicle, it quite clearly is not intended to
illuminate the interior of the vehicle but is intended to be visible to
other road users and is therefore subject to the usual RVLR
requirements.

Can you please tell me what the legal stituation is with the above
lighting.
I've heard verious answers to this and really would like to know from
your point of veiw.
the answers i had so far off people are that...
1. If the NEON light tube is 'visible' there are set colours that have
to be used front and rear...what are they?
1a. The side neon light colour doesn't matter! is this correct?
2. If the Neon under car/body lighting tubes are fitted well under the
car..hence no visable NEON light tube can be seen, Then there is no law
on the colour that you can use to have 'shining' down onto the
floor/road below. Front, Back and the sides!
is that correct?
3. Does NEON interior lighting create a problem to? How etc?
Can you please give me the Governments Legal/Law's view on this, as i'd
like to add this to a WEB site i'm building all about NEON lighting and
products.
I want a section on my HOME page...'Is Neon Legal'?
By asking your advice i feel you will give me the 'Truth'

ive just been talking to a bloke who used to make under car led strips and thinking of getting back into it, that you are allowed green under the car regardless there is no law or nothing they can do at all about it so theres no worries there
