I think it's the only "old" car I'd ever buy.
Insurance would probably be a killer tho but I really want one some day...

Still love the shape, much prefer the hatchs to the convertibles

Thing is with older VW lumps is they actaully perform better when they get to about 100,000 miles. So that engines not reached its peak yet

Friend had a GTi. Very smooth, very fast revving, handled great.

Very nice little cars!! The official "hot hatch" starters!

fave car. clippers are old but nice old, appreciate a well looked after one.
there was a very nice one on autotrader.com bout a amonth ago.

the newer the better

other than that the MK1 GTis are a quality motor, and was ahead of its time IMO

excellent cars i used to own a mk1 astra gte and my next door neighbour had a 1.8 golf gti mk1.mine is now in the scrappy and he still owns his.still mint with 190k on the clock and runs sweet
