It really depends what mood the person serving u is in. I really know quite a bit about audio, as some of you may know, but, if i'm having a particularly shitty day and someone wanders up and says, 'will my 600watt amp power that sub' yeah, i'll just go get u one.

really 'that' sub needs something twice the power.

Quite often, with regards to waiting times, you'll find its not our fault. The smaller companies such as car audio direct keep one or two of everything in stock and so can send it out straight away. We have to order it from the supplier who sometimes dont have the part in stock, cos all the smaller companies have nicked them all. If halfords was to do this(keep one or two of everything in stock, in each store) then, thats over 300 stores. Take ONE single headunit for example, costing just £200. Now, if they kept 2 of these in each store, thats an extra £120 000 kept in the company as stock, and thats only one item. Now imagine this for, say, 200 items, thats about 2.5 MILLION pounds frozen in fixed assets which may not sell, and come new the new season, when new units are being released, these all have to be cleared through, and the potential for A LOT of money to be lost exists. I cant see the boys a head office really going for this kinda tactic, for the sake of what is 'normally' about 3 or 4 working days waiting time.

Now, as for orders regarding wheels . I've been waiting over 7 weeks for my wheels which i ordered, as i was told they were in stock at the time of ordering, and keep getting told 'next week', or, theyre at the paint shop, or they waiting for tyres to be fitted, etc.etc. The only reason ive kept my order is, can u find me a set of brand new Speed 8's in 205/40/17 for less than £580? This delay is clearly beyond our control, cos if it could be speeded up, can you really see me waiting around for this long for a new set of wheels? I think not, again, this problem is down to our supplier.

Halfords are a waste of time.

If u own a common car like a corsa, its not too much of a prob, but if u need something remotely unusual, they cant help. ie: Staff in the Watford branch told me they couldnt get hold of anything for my car, yet it was widely available in every other car store.

Oh and if u want magnex - forget it. Head office told me they wont be ordereding anything from Magnex for the next few weeks.

And if u order anything else, its a 30-40 day wait.

TOSSERS.

Matt

PS: got myself a backbox for £30 cheaper off motorsportworld, evewn after Halfords discount.

i think you will find halfords do NOT have a warhouse if they order goods they come direct from manufacturer and i belive the supplier was at fault for not supplying it as they probs didnt have any in stock

Erm yes halfords DO have a warehouse I live 2 mins from it! and it does have audio etc i it but only the normal stock items not special orders which do come direct. I got my head unit from warehouse £75 was £300 in shop at time gerknob £5 snooper £40 then the bloke got busted

if you order specialist equipment then it comes directly via parcel force or the like, to the store
