I want to create a ftp so I can transfer files over the internet to my mates.

How do i do this?!?

you cant create FTP its a file transfer protocol , its transfering file to the internet uploading them to a html space or a server,

You could install an FTP server on your machine. Either install Microsoft FTP server from Add/Remove Programs > Windows Components > Internet Information Server > FTP Server (as I see you're running Windows XP) and then configure it through the manager in Administrative Tools...

or...

Get a 3rd party server like http://www.serv-u.com as you'll have an easier time with it i'd expect...

it was a while ago but some one on here had a link in there sig which had a web address. When you clicked on it, it brought up a window which showed loads of files he was sharing. This is what I want so I can tell my mates an address and they can share my files. thought this was ftp.

ftp is a protocol tho...u need to host the files somewehre
