high build primer is the stuff your after.

Filler primer is just a primer designed to be sprayed over body filler.......... not to act as a thicker coat.

dont use highbuild plastic primer, its crap, use plastic primer which is like a clear laquer type stuff then use hi build over the top. but you must sand the plastic first.

oh in ref to the first q, no the standard gsi doesnt have smooth bumpers, they are colour coded bobbly.

so what is best to do, try to clour code the top of the half coded bumper, or buy a new bumper that is completely black?

as the half that is coded is smooth

smooth it a bit, then plastic prime, then filler prime, flat of the filler primer, then filler primer again, then flat it then prime again etc.. until its perfectly smooth, or your happy with it, then paint with base or top coat

Can you not buy an arch that is smooth to start with, rather than those dimply ones? that would be easier wouldnt it?

When I had my arches colour coded I had to replace a rear arch as it was cracked, I asked one of the lads at the bodyshop if he would prefer me to get a ready primed GSi arch to replace it, he said no as they are much harder to get a good finish on. He told me to get a new standard one and that he would prep it.

Yeah just a bit mate.

Best bodyshop around here is MSM mate, have done all the work on mine, including fitting my kit and full respray amongst other things. They are supposed to be one of the best in the country, and have prepared many feature cars.
