As I'm sure everyone knows that rage exhausts are mainly universal fit ones. So now I got one how do I fit it.
The fitting kit that comes with it is shit in a word, what I'm after is a kit that enables me to hang it from the two backbox hangers that are already on the car. Anyone know where I can get this from and how much?
Once I got the hanging of it done then I gotta link it up with the rest of the exhaust. How do I go about doin that? I've been told about flexi pipes but how much are they? Then theres welding, which means I'll need to get sum excess pipe, bend it to the right shape then get someone to weld it yeah?
Has anyone fitted these exhausts to their corsa themselves? If so how did they do it exactly?
I know ppl have gone to a garage and said fit it and they've done it but how much they charge in total inc parts etc?
cheers

Ur looking £120 for powerflow to fit this type of universal box.
Alternatively, take it to a smaller local exhaust centre, and i reckon u cud get it all fitted and done for you for around £50.

ok, i've recently found out that welding a normal steel exhaust pipe to a stainless steel is more complicated than welding like to like. However I want this done cos it gives better flow than flexi pipe. Forgetting that tho, where I would be able to the fitting brackets that mount around the silencer to enable it to be connected to the exhaust hangers that are already fitted to the car?

you should have recieved a springy piece of metal with the 'fitting' kit, the garage will cut the hangers off your old exhaust and weld them to this piece of metal which should slide over your exhaust the old hangers will thne fit back into the old rubber gromits

ok I can now see how I can get a hanging bracket made up. Now for the connection of the inlet pipe to the centre section.
At the moment the orginal backbox has about half a foot of pipe that comes out of it and connects to the main section via a clamp. Could I cut this part of the pipe off and then clamp it to my new backbox over the inlet pipe on it. Then with a bit more bending and moving about it should just clamp back on to the centre section since its already all the right shape.
Anyone have any idea whether this wud work.?

I take my car to the local ETS, they do custom systems only charge £20 for a universal back box if it has the adapters, yet if it aint got the adapters your looking around £30-£40.

its not as easy as everybody thinks , if its not done right it throws the centre section out of alignment. you cant just cut the old brackets off and weld them to the new box, what if the box wont fit in the original space where the old box was ,you have to make different mounts for it. we charge 40 quid at top gear burnley.just make sure the box you buy will fit first , not too long or too wide.

I hope it was very cheap. Why not just buy a proper exhaust and bolt off bolt on!

whoa I posted this ages ago, and have now fitted the exhaust ages ago. Anyway I ended up virtually doin it myself. I got an iron man from up my road to weld me a bracket to go around the box which has two hanging rods coming off it just like whats on the car already and then I took the old back box off cut off the rear pipe part right close to the box and then cut to slits into the new backbox exit pipe put the old cut off pipe in it, clamped it up, then the exhaust fitted to to the mid section perfectly since the join was the same as before. Then just attached the exhuast rubbers and I was there.
It wasn't quite as easy as that tho, I had to fiddle around with the angle bend a bit here and there, seal it with gum gum, keep adjusting the bracket on the box which cud slide up and down the box and bend the original handing rods on the car.
Then I found it was knocking against the spare wheel bit so a lil adjustment had to be made. Then I had a orrible smell coming from the exhaust for about a week after I fitted it, guess cos of the gum gum or just the new backbox being new.
But after all of that it sounds wikkid cud be fractional louder I suppose but I can't expect to much from 1.2 16v. But it doesn't sound tacky, just deep rumbly.
The only annoying thing that I can easily change at sum point is that I wud prefer the tip of the exhaust to stick out a fraction more. I can do this by just gettin a slightly longer pipe coming out the rear of the box and goin into the mid section.
I got quoted 60-70 to fit the damn thing. Obviously they wud have done a better job than I did I wud ave thought. But my job cost me the price of a tube of gum gum and thats it, and theres no knocking from it, it looks cool and sounds wikkid.
