Hey, I have a corsa B 1.2 16v Sxi - 75 bhp (proven) - 0-60 approx 11.5-12 seconds - and 117 mph on the clocks down hill (speedo inacuracy's though)... its not bad as a first car!
there's mine on the rolling road.
only insurance group 3, so you as a female probably won't have too much trouble insuring it.
your 206 TD has only 68 bhp, and does 0-60 in 14.1 seconds - so in comparison if you thought the 206 was fast, the 1.2 16v Sxi will feel even faster.
However, - since the Sxi is quite new (1998/1999 onwards) - you may be looking at minimum £3000 to pick one up?
The Sxi is only a 3dr.
There are 1.2 16v's that are 5 dr's however - these are called GLS's or other crazy names, they have different gear boxes and I can beat my mate when I race him. Still not bad.
Don't see a 1.2 8v corsa and think it'll be the same - a female friend of mine did this, she bought a 1.2 8v merit and said 'My car's the same as yours, wanna race' - I just laughed.
the 1.2 8v only has 45 bhp and does 0-60 in about 19 seconds.
You may be able to pick up a 1.4 16v cheaper than a 1.2 16v - since they've been making the 1.4 16v for years, where as the 1.2 16v Sxi is only since 1998 and since your female, you should have no problem insuring it.
