Went to turn up my system the other day and my tweeters started to crackle (distort). There normally fine at this volume, their Alpine components, with inline crossovers on the tweeters, any ideas what could be causing this??
Cheers

has it just started doing it since the cold weather?? If so the plastic connectors are shrinking with the cold and becoming loose and when the speaker vibrates at higher volume they will also vibrate the connector resulting in loss of singnal and hence a crackle!!

vauxhall dont have crossovers?? they are built into the tweeters so im guessing yours are playing full range hence the cracking. Hope you get this soon as they will be burnt out in minutes like that!!

They should come with crossovers but as he says at the top he is using alpine components with Vauxhall crossovers

i think he's mistaken an is actually using the apline tweeter inline crossover.
Cos if he wasn't his tweeters would have started crakling as soon as he installed them

in that case, just strip the area out, have a good look at connectors, they are probably just playing up.
